I have done 3 of the 4 sim sessions in the new "launch" program. All they are looking for in this new program is that you make progress. They want to see that you are teachable. If on your first session you screw up 75% of the stuff, then on the second, only screw up 50% and so on. The major keys are CRM, call-outs, and automation control. There is also some hand flying involved. I have not heard of too many people having problems with it. The CRJ sim is kind of pitch sensitive, just trim trim trim. Also remember turbine lag. The guys that didnt have any turbine time seemed to take a little to adjust to this. Other than that, I think it is a good program.

So, if you were to go home during training, the only way you could do it is to drive. From what you said, Pantera, it seems that you cannot fly home standby? My wife is pregnant so I would like to come home at least a few times...I live only 7 hours away from Cincy, so worst comes to worst, if all the flights are full I could drive.

I could of sworn that they said we would get jump seat privileges the day we got our ID cards. I thought we got our ID cards during the first couple of days of training. Am I wrong?

lowflyby - buy a ticket home in the first 31 days because you dont get standy priveledges for 31 days. I am, or tell them your wife is prego, you will get a space avail from them i am sure

Thanks buffalo...I was wondering if they would consider my situation differently...trust me though, i know i'll be plenty busy studying....they probably don't allow anyone under 21 because they don't want captains who are 23 years old...you aren't eligible for your ATP until you are 23 I'm pretty sure so you'd have a long upgrade anyway.

I was told by Laurie that pass benefits start at your 31st day. I would like to make a trip home as well but doubt I will. Flying standby is pretty risky when you only have two days off total. From what I hear, if you don't make it back, you out. Don't know if that is true but it's what I've read. Heck, traveling to the interview was stressful enough with all the gate agents telling me "it doesn't look good" and "probably not going to get on that one" with regards to getting on the flights I was listed for. But, it all worked out.

They, and every other airline who won't touch anyone under 21, is doing you a favor. Go CFI for a while you boob.
