Comair Interviews

Has anyone heard from Comair about this week's hiring? Has anyone recieved a phone call?

cfiguy11 12-14-2006 08:24 AM

nope. I interviewd tuesday and i am still waiting to hear

azvandriver 12-14-2006 08:29 AM

interviewed yesterday, "still" waiting.

lowflyby 12-14-2006 09:07 AM

I interviewed on the 7th and they called me the next day offering a class date...i'm sure they are just piled up with people...just sit tight...hope to see you up there

shanejj 12-14-2006 09:16 AM

Does ComAir make exceptions for under 21 applicants?

diamnd15 12-14-2006 09:39 AM

i dont think so with under 21, i gave the lady their a call a few weeks ago and she said sorry no exemptions, you have to be 21.

mccube5 12-14-2006 11:39 AM

how about with less than 100 hours multi? can't remember if someone asked that before, but anyone know of anyone that has gotten an interview with less than the 100 hours multi?

bassslayer 12-14-2006 12:36 PM

interviewed yesterday, no word yet.

Pantera 12-14-2006 01:00 PM

Hang tough guys Comair is interviewing and Hiring lots of pilots. I started a couple weeks ago and it is really busy there. Two classes just started behind mine and there are plenty of people in for interviews all week long. I am sure they are backed up. Remember it takes a little time for them to score your cog test.

bassslayer 12-14-2006 01:25 PM

The Cog test was NOT good to me. Little worried about that..

hatetobreakit2u 12-14-2006 03:22 PM

there any way to submit your stuff WITHOUT airlineapps.com

i just dont feel like taking a whole day to fill something out.

lowflyby 12-14-2006 03:22 PM

Cog test isn't too easy to fail i don't think...i only struggled with the part where it asked what pattern are the shapes following now...i guess i did good enough to get the job....pantera, how intense are the first few weeks of training? i can't wait!

I faxed them a resume back in July and never heard anything back. Did the airlineapps a couple months later and got a reply back the next day. If you want an interview, take the time to do the online app. My .02

Blkflyer 12-14-2006 04:13 PM

Thats a good attitude to have, I can tell you that if you come here with that attitude you WILL NOT make it.. what the hell you are going to tell us when we give you a Release that you are not going to check the FMS because you dont feel like doing such and such,, I suggest that if you want the job enough you will Fill out the app on airlineapps or maybe you are really not intrested in getting an interview here... any way good luck with your search for that JOB

your right, i am lazy, thats why i became a pilot

i dont feel like spending a whole day and PAYING for some bull**** service when i could just fax something the same information over for 50 cents. and i am sure there are thousands of other pilots out there that do not want to waste their time with airlineapps either

azvandriver 12-14-2006 05:49 PM

I hated doing it too, refusing to pay for the membership and only applying to non airlineapps companies. However, I have found now that it is a much better system. The letters of reccomendation are much easier, and you are notified for interviews and such MUCH quicker. Also, everytime you update it, all of your selected companies are updated. It is a pain, but just get an account and work on a little each day. No one can see your app until you publish it.

It got me a few interviews, it was worth the work.

azvandriver 12-14-2006 05:50 PM

bassslayer, I was there yesterday too. which one were you?

Blkflyer 12-14-2006 05:59 PM

Good luck with your LOGIC .. the company require you apply a certain way if you dont like it dont do it and dont get an oppertunity.. but then again like I said you really dont want to come here if you have that kind of attitude. good luck with your search

Spongebob 12-14-2006 06:10 PM

The one's that don't use airlineapps just make you fill out the same info later on, so it saves you time as you only need to do it once for multiple apps.

However, since you're special I'm sure you can hand-walk your resume in and get hired on the spot.

Geesh.

hatetobreakit2u 12-14-2006 06:52 PM

damn straight i could

Pantera 12-15-2006 05:54 AM

Someone up there asked what the first couple weeks was like. It is a lot of fun and also a lot of work. Pretty much 8-3:30 or 4:00 M-F. First day is paperwork and stuff and explanations of benefits and pass riding and all kind of HR stuff. Then basic indoc starts (note: this is how my class was but there are changes to this now so expect something different) and you do that for a week and end it with a written test which wasn't all that bad. It is on regs and duty time and ops type questions which you will all learn. Second week you go into systems training......this is where the fun starts : ) It is very fast paced and if you have never seen a CRJ before it is all new stuff and tough. It ends with another written test. If you study and do the homework and prepare and go into it with the mindset of success it is attainable. If you come here thinking you can just skate by it isn't going to happen. I let you know how the rest goes in a week or two.

Everyone that has instructed us at Comair is professional and very good at what they do. They keep your attention and there is usually a break at least every hour or so for a few minutes. If you have interviewed then I probably don't need to tell you about the cafeteria at Comair which is where most people go for lunch.
The Radisson is not too bad just make sure you ask for a room on the opposite side of the highway. I highly suggest bringing a POV as there are no stores close by.

One last thing..........you might want to bring a wheel barrow for all the books they give you! No kidding!

bassslayer 12-15-2006 09:40 AM

Got the Call!!!!!! Class on Jan 16... YEE HAW

PistolP 12-15-2006 10:36 AM

Let's Go!!!

cfiguy11 12-15-2006 11:39 AM

I just got called also....see you boys in Cinci!!!!

bassslayer 12-17-2006 05:13 AM

anyone else?

lowflyby 12-18-2006 08:49 AM

Pantera...I start class on Jan. 8th...few questions. Do they give you your own room during training, or do you have a roommate? Also, do a lot of people go home on the weekends? If so, do we have jumpseating privaleges yet, or just standby? I can't wait to start and hope to see everyone up there!

bassslayer 12-18-2006 09:40 AM

I was told by Laurie that pass privledges don't start until your 31st day. Has anyone been through th "sim check" pre-training or whatever it is called yet?

buffalopilot 12-18-2006 09:56 AM

pass priveledges: does that mean flying standby or jumpseat?

Pantera 12-18-2006 12:04 PM

You get your own room at The Radisson. Nice room with a "sleep number" bed. As far as Jumpseating let me clarify that. Jumpseating is riding in the flightdeck with the crew. You are not allowed to do that until you are a qualified crewmember. Flying space available is allowed after you have been employed for 31 days, that means riding in the back. As far as going home for the weekends I would highly suggest you don't. If you get stuck not being able to get back it would not be a good thing. Besides you will need the time to study. As far as the new sim bridge, there are classes doing it now but i know nothing about it.

cessna126 12-18-2006 01:43 PM

I have done 3 of the 4 sim sessions in the new "launch" program. All they are looking for in this new program is that you make progress. They want to see that you are teachable. If on your first session you screw up 75% of the stuff, then on the second, only screw up 50% and so on. The major keys are CRM, call-outs, and automation control. There is also some hand flying involved. I have not heard of too many people having problems with it. The CRJ sim is kind of pitch sensitive, just trim trim trim. Also remember turbine lag. The guys that didnt have any turbine time seemed to take a little to adjust to this. Other than that, I think it is a good program.

Thanks for the info! Keep us udated (if you have time). There are a few of us on here who start training in Jan. Good Luck!

lowflyby 12-19-2006 06:00 AM

So, if you were to go home during training, the only way you could do it is to drive. From what you said, Pantera, it seems that you cannot fly home standby? My wife is pregnant so I would like to come home at least a few times...I live only 7 hours away from Cincy, so worst comes to worst, if all the flights are full I could drive.

PistolP 12-19-2006 06:08 AM

I could of sworn that they said we would get jump seat privileges the day we got our ID cards. I thought we got our ID cards during the first couple of days of training. Am I wrong?

buffalopilot 12-19-2006 06:39 AM

lowflyby - buy a ticket home in the first 31 days because you dont get standy priveledges for 31 days. I am, or tell them your wife is prego, you will get a space avail from them i am sure

shanejj 12-19-2006 07:10 AM

I think it just sux they dont look at candidates under 21...

buffalopilot 12-19-2006 07:48 AM

I think its great they dont allow kids in the cockpit

lowflyby 12-19-2006 07:49 AM

Thanks buffalo...I was wondering if they would consider my situation differently...trust me though, i know i'll be plenty busy studying....they probably don't allow anyone under 21 because they don't want captains who are 23 years old...you aren't eligible for your ATP until you are 23 I'm pretty sure so you'd have a long upgrade anyway.

bassslayer 12-19-2006 05:02 PM

I was told by Laurie that pass benefits start at your 31st day. I would like to make a trip home as well but doubt I will. Flying standby is pretty risky when you only have two days off total. From what I hear, if you don't make it back, you out. Don't know if that is true but it's what I've read. Heck, traveling to the interview was stressful enough with all the gate agents telling me "it doesn't look good" and "probably not going to get on that one" with regards to getting on the flights I was listed for. But, it all worked out.

They, and every other airline who won't touch anyone under 21, is doing you a favor. Go CFI for a while you boob.
