Excellent post, and your theory I believe is correct. I'd like to further add that there is no motivation on the part of the airline management to negotiate. They are going to push, and keep on pushing until they find where the bottom is.

They'd rather explore drones as an option than pay us more.

I agree with everything you said except the part about SkyWest. Fortunately we are working towards pay raises. The official proposal isn't out yet but everything I have heard is that they are bringing money to the table. It may not be much but it's a step in the right direction.
