Eagle and 117
They suck, if we refuse to except to go past the 13 hrs, they consider it the same as fatigued (a little different) and we do not get paid for the remaining flying and whatever flying you miss from there.
|
That sounds like pilot pushing and a punitive policy that goes against the intent of the new rest rules. Sounds like its time to call the FAA.
|
A fatigue call and not accepting an extension is two whole different things, this is just another example of management pushing the limit.

I denied it the other day and it was fine.

Again, once the CRJ's are gone those displacements should help alleviate staffing while they keep shrinking.

I am not a fan of the 117 rules. I much prefer more efficient trips that allow me to spend more time at home while being paid more. But these rules are now the law. If you need protections against the company abusing you, then negotiate them into your contract. Don't let the federal govt create arbitrary rules that are next to impossible to change. If you don't want to go beyond that 13hrs because you are fatigued, why are you upset that the company is treating you as being fatigued? |
Company-Alpa, stated L-AE will be a 1 fleet operation. In this case an EMB operator. No protection for the CRJ side on the AIP/TA. expect them to go to either PSA or Piedmont since they are parking planes already.
Vote YES and the shrinking of L-AE will be slower. Vote NO and the shrinking of L-AE will be faster. More news about this when they make the BIG announcement for L-AE new Name. |
I don't doubt that we'll lose the CRJs but I haven't seen anything in writing about it. Maybe I just missed it.
as to the 13 hour thing, I believe that any extension past 13 hours must be accepted by the crew AND the company. There is also paperwork to be done justifying the extension. The rest rules are convoluted so I may have misinterpreted that, but thats how I understand it. It's not a fatigue call. |

Thats the reason the company refuses to make any commitments on the CRJ's. Ask your rep. |

If you don't want to go beyond that 13hrs because you are fatigued, why are you upset that the company is treating you as being fatigued? As far as negotiating it into the contract, you must not work at AE. We have a max duty day of 14 but it always got extended to FAR. Today we have FARs that allow you to decide wether to accept an extension, the new way of them to deal with this is to have you talked to chief pilot and if you turn down the extension they will give you a fatigue call that goes on your attendance record. How convenient. Eagle operates under the fly it and then grieve it or you will receive a miss assignment on your attendance record even if it's against your contract. Eagle has become one of the worse regionals to work for between the concessions, drama, threats, not being paid correctly and constant contract violations. They try to intimidate you and threaten you on a daily basis. Management at eagle doesn't follow the contract, there are thousands of grievances against the company for 2013, just for 2013. If you tell a crew scheduler that something is against the contract they will tell you, yup you can fly it and grieve it and if you say no here comes the CP direction you to do it and if you fail to you are nailed with insubordination. |
