Hiring Discrimination at Majors?

Anyone experience hiring discrimination when applying to the majors?

Example, you're qualified, but in your 40's or 50's and the majors pass you over for a 20- or 30-something?

I've also heard stories that females get preferential hiring over equally experienced male counterparts at the majors.

Truth to any of this?

This should be good...

Welcome to aviation!

Well the last part is true of any majority in any field, aviation is no different.

Filing a law suit is most likely the solution.

No. This isn't a formula. Just because you have 2000 TPIC, it doesn't mean you deserve to get hired over someone without any.

No. This isn't a formula. Just because you have 2000 TPIC, it doesn't mean you deserve to get hired over someone without any.

Just because you're black doesn't mean you should get an interview over a more qualified person.

This is to promote diversity and strengthen EEO at the same time. Everyone who applies to said majors are all qualified...

Interesting... Why not?

Qualified? Maybe (if by "qualified", you mean, "meets the minimums.")

Competitive? Mathematically impossible (we can't all be competitive. Some are more competitive than others.)

If it were up to me, I'd hire based on the amount of dues paid in this gummed up industry and have a Google-type IQ test as a barrier to entry.

Lot's of push to promote "diversity." I get it. Makes for interesting conversations in the cockpit. But the guy/gal/transgender has to pay the dues first. That's all we ask.

Because you might be a gigantic toolbag, and the person with no or less PIC isn't?

Because they have a more well rounded resume, or their resume simply looks better aesthetically than yours?

Because they performed better on testing?

Because they might be better networked than you are, with more and better recommendation letters?

Because F you, that's why?

Aviation ain't FIFO, people. While favoritism certainly exists in this world, you get interviews and hired on your own merits, as decided by the company doing the hiring. That's not discrimination, that's life.
