Will the company send you the memory items, limitations, and system information before you attend class? Is it possible to get that information even if the company won't send it to you, or do you have to learn it within the two weeks or whatever that is alotted during training? If not Trans States, what about other companies policies on this? I know Piedmont is a bit different with their AQP program. I think I may like that more so I'm not so rushed to learn.

you will be in class a couple of days before you get all of you manuals.

you dont get your systems manual until you start systems.
Dont worry about it, it really does come at you at the right speed through training.

hey guys thanks a lot. but what about some of the other little things like jepps, uniforms, etc, does tsa pay or help pay for most of that kind of stuff.

TSA will pay for the Jepps, SOP, GOM and your brass.

You pay $20/mo for your uniform, but they give you $20/mo for dry cleaning, so it kinda works out.

Your manuals are given to you about 3 or 4 days into class, and your systems book is given to you when you start the systems class, about 10 days into it.

Pace yourself. Dont memorize systems when you're trying to work on indoc, or general operating subjects. It's not a race.

When you get your SOP though, memorize section 3 like the back of your hand. It's memory items (26) and limitations

don't worry, not gonna. i was just assuming it's a bridge because they take Purdue grads with less than the stated mins. sounds better in my head than "they were just that desperate."

Last time I checked, they give you all the writtens in ground school at some point in time, either through the gouges or the day before the instructor goes through them.

Prepare for an oral, study flows through indoc as that should be the easiest test. I think a few days of flows before sim would work fine, just have an IDEA of what to do, they WILL work with you on those! My personal suggestion is to know the autopilot buttons as best as you can! Also, 1/2 your pph will give you an exact airspeed! EXAMPLE - 1000 pph per side = 200 KIAS. Best gouge ever! Add about 200 pph for flaps! 65% N1 on an ILS works pretty dam* good as well! EMB's kick a**! Have fun!

The advice on training is a given memory items and all that good stuff. I have a great gouge for Darin Carrol but here is a tip they didn't tell you. DO NOT STUDY GOUGES. They examinars are well aware that the Oct and Nov class only studied gouges. Those that only studied gouges FAILED. You cannot do that. Like said before get with a group and study. Make flash cards because systems is not easy at all.

If you don't know the answers DO NOT TALK just say I don't know. More than a handfull of guys fail just because they talked themselves into a hole. As far as the oral goes thats all there is to it. Know that Systems manual front and back. The instructors are great and they will prepare you very well but you need to do self study or group study.

I have always found the best way is group study. The class that studies togeather passes togeather. There wasn't one preson I studied with on a daily basis that didn't pass their oral. So get to it. We got our GOM SOP JEPPS and Checklist the first day of class.
