You do need hazard pay at the gas station job though. I live in the metroplex. Not such a good gig working overnight at that location. At least at a regional they are robbing you with a pen, not an actual weapon.:D

Doesn't even include a 4 year degree cost. Throw that in and you're looking at over a decade just to break even. And that assumes a 3 year upgrade. Which in the past may, or may not (6+) happen. Really, really infuriating how the union negotiated pay gave the spoils to the CA's and left the FO's out to dry.

What CFI earns $15k? If you're instructing for that and it's your only source if income there's a problem.

Yes, airline FOs should make more but this victim mentality is awful.

This is also assuming that you never get a raise or promotion at the gas station. You could probably be a manager by year 5, making 45k or more.

80 hours a month billable x $15/hr is $1200 or $14,400. That was about what I did working part 61 and part 141 non-career places. I instructed at some busy airports too, Teterboro and Orlando Exec. Weather plays a role, especially in the NE during the winter. And in the South during the summer. Sometimes my entire day after 2pm was wiped due to storms. Yep, some will earn more but I bet the majority will make right around $15k-$18k a year. Nice thing is, earning that little, you pay almost no taxes.

Yeah, 14-15K is what I made per year. That took about 70 hours/ week at the airport, too.

Yep me too, a second job wasn't even a possibility after that work week.
