MOC/MCC Knowledge
I asked a question in another thread about on-call mechanics and figured that I'd follow it up with a question to Regional flight crews re: MOC controllers.
From my perspective, the knowledge and experience levels of controllers is continually declining. Back in the day, when calling into MOC, you'd likely get a VERY knowledgeable and seasoned tech on the phone. Now, it seems as if many controllers are barely familiar with the airplane. Am I just the only one that feels this way? |
I think this guy is a reporter.

Given the quality of media research & reporting these days, it really wouldn't surprise me |

MOC controllers are very knowledgeable and tend to be very helpful. This is likely due to their extensive, ongoing training and in-service training events. They are a critical component of a safe, professional, operation.
"Uhhhh you don't have to write that up." If I had a dollar for every time MOC told me that... I'd be retired. |

If he is a reporter, he's not a very smart one. Could you imagine the story? "Some anonymous people on the internet, who I'm pretty sure are pilots because it's a pilot forum, told me this..."

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that I've been around the block longer than at least 75% of the flight crews here. I still get misty eyed when I see an occasional B727 taxi in because I cut my teeth on that bird fresh out of A&P school. (That was before they hung the Tays on them) Let's see. Started with the B727, DC8, B757, A300, took a break, now I see A320, CRJ, ERJ, B737 and some bizjets on occasion. And all I know about DHC-8's & Q's can be summed up in about three words. So no, not a total troll reporter. :) |

There's already a thread about these maintenance issues. http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/ma...ml#post1643583
