Default HR question

If you were asked during an interview, "Tell me about a time when you were a leader or were put in charge and you didn't want to be." How would you guys answer that?

This one sounds tricky. I'd try to spin a yarn about a time where I was assigned responsibility because I was the most qualified and/or experienced, even though I wasn't seeking out the position. Then go on about how you made the best of it.

You made the most of the opportunity and didn't shy away from leaving your comfort zone...

IMHO, how you feel about leaving your comfort zone is what most of these questions are about...Everyone is confident in their niche area. They want to know how you are outside your comfort zone...

Make sure you talk about how you were able to communicate / get others engaged in the problem / issue. If you come across as having done everything yourself you didn't really lead anyone did you? They want to see you communicate / use all resources (other pilot / team members) in solving the issue...
