Next Stage of Desperation in the Regionals

Hey guys,

Just noticed on our union's job webpage tonight that for the first time I've ever seen, Australians are being offered opportunities in the USA, with basically all expenses paid! (See below)

And also, has there been any progress regarding your contracts? I know several regionals were voting down pathetic deals a few months ago but have been out of touch with the US flying industry since then. And there is simply too much to go searching through to find a short answer.

ATPL holders needed NOW for USA - For First Officer Opportunities

A fantastic opportunity is available to work as a First Officer on Regional Jet for a major USA Airline. In addition to building your Airline experience you will be able to enjoy living, exploring and flying around the USA in one of the worlds most sophisticated airline environments.

Applicants must be Australian citizens holding an ATPL & Command Instrument Rating and undergo a USA security check

To apply please email your CV including full details of your qualifications and experience to: [email protected]

This won't last long, as any compensation above that stipulated in the contract is a violation of said contract.

So someone thinks Aussies are going to beat down 'Mericas door to work for poverty wages. Not likely. The only folks worried about this are these folks:

Quantas link or skywest (Aussie skywest) are both better companies to work for than any regional. Expect to see more of these lame ideas to try and fill classes before wages are actually raised. They will exhaust every possible option before they resort to paying more but none of them will work and eventually they'll have to.

One Aussie company was trying to recruit some of us Saab guys a while back. About AU$78k IIRC. Hard to imagine any of them coming here.

Eventually they will fold. Not eventually they will have to.

Pilots in Australia have a minimum wage .. Wait until they see what the "local award wage" is in Merica.
