Default Possible new SkyWest bases?

With all the expansion that SkyW is doing, is there any talk of new bases further East?

With the aircraft from ASA and others it would seem that ATL may be an option at sometime.

Personally, I hope not. However, with the new Midwest flying, I hear people supposing MKE and MCI would be new doms.

SKW in ATL does not make sense, just like ASA in SLC does not make sense.

MKE, MCI, and PHX are all possibilities. I'd probably bet on MKE for sure.

Wait and see what happens to the SKW 900's in ATL in the next three to six months. They did not want to put a base out here for obvious reasons.

So would going to ASA in ATL as a new-hire F/O make sense? I got the feeling from other posts on this forum that ASA was in decline.

According to the last company email that was sent out by our director of flight ops, they are currently considering a MKE domicile. Given the amount of planes going there, and the pilots/fa's/mechanics going there, I would say that it's a no brainer. We have much smaller bases than what MKE would be. However I don't think MCI will happen, I don't think Midwest mainline even domiciles there despite it being a "hub". As far as other east domiciles, any Delta base is certainly a possibility. Also it won't happen any time soon, but I've noticed that SkyWest is pretty much the only UA regional carrier that currently does not fly out of IAD. Mesa, Shuttle America, Trans States, Colgan, GoJet, and I believe Chatauqua, all have routes there. So a IAD base in the next few years wouldn't shock me, but that's COMPLETE speculation on my behalf.

It's official, MKE will open as a domicile for SkyWest. 10 crews in April, growing to 70 crews by October.
