It's all good. When MccPilotLog for Mac finally comes out, it'll get real that LogTen will be circling the drain. Quite frankly, I'm pretty excited about it. Just to see this greedy guy go down in flames and denial will make my day.

Noah Liebermans' true colors came out with this release of LogTen Pro. I would even go as far to say that he's not only greedy, but he's a coward. During all of this uproar, he didn't step up and do the right thing. Instead, he chose to muzzle everyone and shut down their Facebook page. For a business that lives and dies by the internet, all the negative PR they have gotten from all this, should put a nice little damper on their bottom line. Remember Noah, we can flood your email inbox, your twitter page, the App store, your google page. Just because your Facebook page is gone, it doesn't mean you can hide. We can corner him with all kinds of negative PR and choke his business to death. I'm game for it.

LogTen Annual fee $69.99/yr

I currently own both the Logten Pro IPhone app and Logten Pro 6 for Mac on an old 2008 mac. I am still able to use wifi sync. I am definitely furious with the recent developments and have notified Coradine multiple times about this.
As a matter of principle I would like to avoid paying the inflated subscription fee (I would reluctantly accept an annual fee of 15-30).
I would like to purchase a new Mac soon. Would I be able to keep syncing between my phone and the old Mac and keep the old Mac around solely for logten requirements?
I want to minimize damage by continuing to import my airline schedule and utilizing the sync option and at the same time refrain from paying Coradine for any upgrades/susbscriptions...

Use airdrop to bring it on to your new mac and authorize the new mac to use logten 6. no need to keep a mac just for log ten.

LogTen Annual fee $69.99/yr

Just received an email from Coradine. They still haven't changed their pricing and insist "pilots love LTP X." They found 2 positive reviews. Here's the body of the email:

Pilots Love LogTen Pro X

Thanks to everyone who has downloaded LogTen Pro X and helped to make this our best launch weekend ever! Nearly nine thousand pilots are already onboard. Download your copy now for free so you can try the new features for yourself.

Here's what a few of them had to say:

"Been using Log Ten Pro for years and the last version is superb! Not so long ago i wrote the support team about the idea of let mobile devices recognize the place, which is really important when it comes to helicopter pilots: we don't spend our entire life between airports! & and with the last version, here it is: "fly now" option!! amazing! LogTen Pro X is "the jam" !!! Thank you, Coradine!!"

AS365 Pilot

"I've been using this electronic logbook for four years. It has an easy interface, cloud syncing across devices, and they continue to improve it. It is so much more than a paper logbook - I keep photos, notes, track fuel use, expenses, everything. I can customize my interface completely - when I'm instructing a lot it is set for that, if I'm doing charter it supports easy entry there. It looks good, I can print most any report I want, and I can see in an instant my currency and totals. I never get behind on logging my time because I can enter my time in seconds on my iphone and the customer support is great."

App Store Review

"First off I would like to thank you for a great product. Just got the new one [LogTen Pro X] and it looks great and was very simple to get my data over to the new program. Also thanks for offering the discount on the subscription for the 1st two weeks."

Customer comment at help.coradine.com

Yes, LogTen Pro X for iOS is a subscription.
And yes, LogTen Pro X for Mac is free.

We aim to be as transparent as possible at Coradine, we take your comments seriously and act with three objectives always in mind based on our mission to help pilots.

Our objectives are: to provide you with the best logbook on the market, coupled with the best service you've ever had, for a fair price that enables us to continue doing so for many, many years to come.

Our CEO (Noah), recently wrote a (long and detailed) posting on how a subscription makes all the above possible.

Here's an excerpt:

"I am super excited about our new LogTen Pro X platform and subscription model! Giving you access to LogTen Pro X on all your devices, a regular subscription has huge advantages in this new world of constant updates.

Subscriptions mean you will always have the latest version with regular feature updates as soon as they are honed to perfection. Upgrade your device and OS with confidence and security, knowing we will keep you in the loop with upcoming features and compatibility."

And...

"A subscription gives us much more flexibility, and using this flexibility, we have decided to make sure that all pilots with LogTen Pro always have access to their historic data. So even if you have to take some time away from flying and let your subscription lapse, you will still get all the updates to LogTen Pro X and can continue to use your logbook and all of LogTen Pro X's great features to view, search, edit, generate reports etc.! A subscription is only required to continue adding new flights beyond the first 40 hours." To read the full article, click here.

Finally, to make sure there is no confusion about pricing...

LogTen Pro X for Mac is free. Download it here right now and use it, no cost, no subscription, no restrictions, the best logbook on the market, on your desktop at no charge.

LogTen Pro X for iOS is free for the first 40 hours of flight time logged and then you will be prompted to purchase a subscription.

Until Oct 31, 2014 annual subscriptions for LogTen Pro X for iOS are discounted by 50% at $34.99US for the first year. After October 31, the annual subscription goes up to $69.99US/year, or choose monthly for $6.99US. Download it here, test it out fully and try before you buy.

And remember ... your data is always yours. If you let your subscription lapse and have over 40 hours of flight time logged, the only two functions that are disabled is the ability to add new flights and sync. You can analyze your historic data, export reports, track certificates and everything else you love LogTen Pro for...

And of course, if you have any comments, questions or suggestions, you can always contact our fantastic support team at help.coradine.com!

Thanks for reading,
Team Coradine

...needless to say, I unsubscribed. I'm done with this stubborn, greedy company.

Diesel8 10-23-2014 05:03 PM

69.99 x 9000 = 629,910 a year.

Should have been a Software Engineer.

The big questions are since they have you signed up and doling out your money what is the impetus to do any updates or improvements to the product? Anyone? Anyone? Crickets.

The other little issue is:
"a single auto-renewing subscription (either monthly or annually)"

What's to say that Noah doesn't "automatically" increase your monthly or annual subscription rate whenever he pleases to get that new house by the lake, with the fancy boat, floatplane and the flash car?

I would like to see the fine print on that deal, on the "Agreement". How hard is it to cancel the auto-renewing subscription? Honestly though, since I am not going to continue with the Coradine Extortion Plan I really don't care.

I was happy with Logten 6.5.1 and after they finally got the bugs out (for the most part - had some major issues at one point in time). The iCloud Sync was working pretty well.

Now that Logten 6.5.1 doesn't work as when it was sold, as far as I am concerned some of the smart lawyer types should get a Class Action Lawsuit together since the product we purchased (at greater than normal market price) no longer functions as marketed. A reputable company would have patched this gratis, then they could have gone on and marketed their latest and greatest.

I have paid close to $425.00 for all this over a 4-5 year period. That is just too much for too little and way too many broken promises. All this for a product that has only one purpose.

I paid substantially less for Microsoft Office, and get a lot more utilization.

Sue Him!

727_Driver 10-23-2014 05:59 PM

I also heard some rumors that the numbers are misleading about “pilots” vs. “device installs”.

Also I've been told by some developers that the update to iCloud is a simple one on the programming end. I don't see why the app couldn't have just been tweaked versus creating a new one and charging for again...

It's a VERY simple update, they just needed an excuse for a new app (since they were working on one at the time)

If the price stayed at 35 it would be understandable!

downloads my schedule from the company, automatically does night time, adds crew and everything like that. and syncs to my phone.

and the nice thing is id adds future flights so when I fly them, just add the block times, maybe actual time and tail # if it changed and bam, all done. sync and boom

Transition from Log Ten Pro

After Coradine has changed its payment plan, our Helpdesk is swamped by pilots using Log Ten Pro before.

The following questions often come back :

1. When is the Mac OS application released ?

mccPILOTLOG currently runs as Windows program. We are developing a new application that runs cross-platform on Mac, Windows and even on Linux, the latter is not targetted / supported. The new software will soon be released as BETA for ALL pilots.
2. Will I be charged twice when switching from (virtual) Windows to the Mac application ?

No, your license key for Windows PC remains valid for Mac OS, there are no extra charges ! The license key can be used on 9 devices simultaneously (this technical limit will even be lifted with the next Version).
3. Will you change your payment plan towards a subscription model, like Coradine ?

mccPILOTLOG charges a one-time payment for life-time use of the software. There are no extra charges for any software updates and for Helpdesk support 24/7. A team of 16 coders is working full-time on mccPILOTLOG, mccROSTER, mccPILOTCAL and other apps. It takes a simple calculation to understand the difficult balance between monthly returning costs versus one-time earnings...

We may eventually move towards a similar subscription model. However, contrary to Coradine, we commit to never charge existing loyal users. Should we change to a new payment plan, it would apply to new users only.
4. Can I import my records from Log Ten Pro ?

mccPILOTLOG imports data from 35 other electronic logbooks, including Log Ten Pro. Do the following steps :

- File (or) Reports
- Export (Exporters)
- Export Flights (Tab)
- Generate Report (choose 3 times ALL)
- ZIP the FLIGHTS.TXT file

Email the ZIP file to our Helpdesk for modification and review. The average delay is 3 to 5 business days, this may take a bit longer as we are swamped with requests from Log Ten Pro users.

There is no need to purchase any of the paid editions in order to import your records. You can import the converted file and log new records with the FREE standard edition of mccPILOTLOG. There is no limit of "40 hours" and there is no trial period ! In fact, we strongly advise to first install and test-run the free software in order to make sure the application runs fine on your desktop.

astec 10-24-2014 04:14 PM

so let me get this straight, the computer form is free, but the IOS(Iphone) app is 69.99 a year?

Why is everyone b*tching about the IOS version? Your logbook still works, the fact you can still print it for free is all you need.

FredFlyer 10-25-2014 01:39 AM

LogTen Annual fee $69.99/yr

Astec, the laptop/desktop version is only "free" if you log less than 40 hours. You won't be able to log more than 40 hours without subscribing. So, unless you've retired, the b****ing is valid.

That is absolutely not true. There's plenty to complain about the iOS subscription, but you can't just make up more to support your argument. You yourself posted the email from Coradine...

LogTen Pro X for Mac is free. Download it here right now and use it, no cost, no subscription, no restrictions – the best logbook on the market, on your desktop at no charge.
From all the misinformation in this thread, I thought the same thing about the Mac version. But when I couldn't find any way to subscribe in the Mac program, I dug a little deeper. The email confirmed what I finally figured out, there is no subscription for the Mac version. I currently have 50+ hours logged in it (in addition to the thousands of hours brought in from version 6), and imported my Nov schedule for much more. The subscription only applies to the iOS version, to include mobile logging and the sync function.

astec 10-25-2014 11:38 AM

That's what I got from the plethora of info in this thread. The Mac version is completely free with no restrictions. For those, like myself, who don't need to log every leg as soon as I finish flying it, in my phone, I don't see a problem. Just write it in the red books and update it in a week or two.

Salukipilot4590 10-25-2014 01:14 PM

Its not a problem but they're basically screwing us professionals over.

70? C'mon son....

olympic 10-26-2014 12:01 AM

They sent out an email standing behind their yearly subscription. Thank god I bought it for Macbook only and don't need to pay this stupid fee yearly.

web500sjc 10-27-2014 08:46 PM

That's funny, I thought that 69.99 was too much for the subscription to everything. Since it's only to the iOS app now it's extremely overpriced. Even the 30$ a year that I might have been wiling to pay for the solution no longer seams like a good price for the iOS only app.

avalanche 10-28-2014 06:45 AM

I just heard about this new service Logbookwiz--they take copies of your logbook and convert it to an excel file for you within a week. Anybody have any experience with these guys? Sounds pretty innovative....

Salukipilot4590 10-30-2014 08:34 PM

Anyone read the newest email?

Better but just make the subscription $34.99/yr and call it a day. Thats much easier to swallow.

NovemberBravo 10-30-2014 09:26 PM

Isn't that just until tomorrow

FaceBiter 10-30-2014 09:49 PM

Noah

I was one of the people that emailed you criticizing this new subscription based service. I was originally quite upset. I have been a LogTen user for a number of years. However, what I didn't realize is that the Mac version is now completely free, including all future updates. Your website stated that, but it was confusing in many parts where it talked about logging more than 40 hours. I did, however, confirm that it was free. Having just bought a new iPhone 6, I did decide to try the new app and subscription for $35. My main issue was the $70 per year price tag. Seemed a little steep considering you target market. The $50 per year is more reasonable. Consider that there are not many things that us airline pilots need with upgrades. I guess thats what upsets us about it. We usually just upgrade because we have to in order to keep all of our Apple products working together. Many of my medical friends and wife pay much more than this for app subscriptions for their profession but they are adding new drugs and information. This is purely a convenience based app.

In any case, the new app and new Logten on my Mac are working great. Much faster than the older version, don't know why. At this point I plan to continue the subscription for $50 because it is a huge time saver and let's face it, with all of the application fees and updating, and flight time breakdowns, it is a reasonable price to pay.
Also, I didn't have the iOS version until now, just manually entered everything into Logten when I got home. This is nice though, being able to upload schedules to my phone ahead of time so that all I have to do is enter times on each flight. Now when I get home I can just update AirlineApps. The iCloud drive feature is awesome.

Just thought I'd let you know I've changed my mind and I'm happy again with Logten.

mynameisjim 10-31-2014 06:46 AM

No way in hell would I pay $90, then $20, then $50 a year for this logbook.

Diesel8 10-31-2014 12:17 PM

Bait & Switch...

The subscription for a service that is provided by Apple is criminal.

I just want Logten 6.5.1 fixed to work with the iCloud Drive , and I will not pay a subscription fee.

Once you, as a company owner, are getting a subscription fee there is NO impetus to improve or update your program. The hook of timely and often updates is a ruse, a red herring.

The subscription rate can suddenly go up as soon as a sufficient amount of people have subscribed to re-capture the customer base. What's to prove otherwise?

Noah's business model has always been extremely high end and greedy. What would be considered fractional updates have always been marketed as full version upgrades with the correspondingly high price. This is the history and it WILL NOT change.

He has lost all credibility in the eyes of most of his customers.

To quote Dr. "Phil" McGraw:

"The best predictor of future behavior is … past behavior"

Noah is not going to change, and any attempt to seemingly acquiesce to his customers is just a ploy to further his OVERWHELMINGLY greedy goals.

I am not against people taking the opportunity to make money, but Noah's plans are pure extortion and it is a game that I suggest no one take part of. Just say "No!"

DOGIII 11-01-2014 04:03 PM

I hope the newly updated price point is a sign that the pressure is working (I did my part by sending over some respectful and aggressive emails to Noah and Coradine as well). Hopefully we can get it down to around a 15-30 price point.
There was one thing I was pondering though:
I was satisfied to see so many pilots rate the app negatively on the App Store (this is definitely helping our cause), but don't you have to own the product to review it?
Hopefully many customers have downloaded the product in order to post a review, but will still hold the line until the annual fee drops considerably.
I must admit- the small price cut is tempting, even if just to keep trucking with the app while sending Coradine more mail until they adjust the price to a value that is acceptable to their customer base.

I must admit- the small price cut is tempting, even if just to keep trucking with the app while sending Coradine more mail until they adjust the price to a value that is acceptable to their customer base.

There is zero reason to upgrade to version 7 if you use the ios and Mac version.

I have version 6 on my Mac and ios device and pay nothing a month after my initial purchase 2 years ago. Only drawback is I have to sync now via wifi, which isnt a big deal since Coradine has zero interest in turning cloud sync back on for version 6.

Version 7 has cloud sync but now its $50 a month if I want the ios program. I'll save the $50 and wifi sync it myself with my paid for version 6. Remember, its $50 now for the ios program, what will it be in 3 years? 5 years? Pandora's box, be careful if you open it.
