I've flown with him. I would be very surprised if the allegations are true. Due to some of the issues with his impending divorce, I would not be surprised to find that this was a set up by his wife. Regardless, let the legal system work. Leave the convictions for them.

I have to chime in here as well. I know Tom. He's a very nice, outgoing guy. I have flown with him a few times, and nothing in his character says child molester in my experience. He also confided in me what Tony said about the divorce. We all need to let the legal system do it's intended purpose, and treat him as innocent until proven guilty.

In your "experience" which character traits do child molestors exhibit? Not every child molester has a NAMBLA or "Kiddie Porn Rocks" bumper sticker, they are in every segment of society and social strata.

Since you all want to drag his dirty laundry through the public, I happen to know this guy, and he confided in me a month ago that he was in the middle of a nasty divorce. His wife left him, took his kids across the country, and she and her family were coaching the kids to make false allegations to destroy him. Maybe it's true, maybe it isn't but an arrest isn't a conviction. a pilot's reputation is everything. Stop dragging this guy through the mud until he's convicted of something. Agree 100%... Regardless of being convicted or not, if the wife made this up, she's already screwed his life up probably forever. It's a shame the crap people do to each other. I'm currently on a trip with a guy who used to fly with him, and he told me the same thing... He just can't see this guy doing it, so let's wait to pass judgment as I'm sure we'd all hope for if we were ever put in a situation like this. |
Wow, what a terrible situation for all involved. Hopefully the truth comes out and justice is served.

We all laugh at how incompetent the media is when it comes to aviation. What makes this situation any different?

Not too long ago… Falsely accused. |
Too bad all of the popular crime shows portray a black-and-white scenario where dedicated and hard-working cops and prosecutors fight the odds and bring down evil perpetrators. Not many cover prosecutorial misconduct, witness coaching, jailhouse informants, evidence tampering -- or vindictive, spurned women spinning lies.
The Economist article I linked in the previous page paints a pretty disheartening picture of what happens when one is accused of a serious crime and falls into the gears of the criminal-industrial complex in the US. |

Its funny how we all brag about 'Murica and our system of justice, Bill of Rights and everything else, wave flags, put our hands on our hearts and sing songs. Then turn right around and collectively wish for mob rule and public executions, even torture, the elimination of due process and the assumption of guilt based off of news stories, all while trying to "get out of" jury duty. The price of liberty is eternal vigilance, and we haven't been paying the bill. |

I guess they never read or saw Arthur Miller's "The Crucible." |
Children do not have to lie. Unfortunately they are easily manipulated and convinced things happened which actually did not. The memory becomes real to them and they will spend the rest of their lives convinced it actually happened, even passing polygraphs.
We simply have to rely on the integrity of the justice system and sell everything we own to afford the level of defense it takes to fight false accusations-with absolutely no hope of ever getting the money back if the charges are dropped or there is an aquittal. The system sucks but it is the best in the world. But keep in mind this is the same system which does stop many sick freaks from hurting kids. |

. I'll wait for proof with Tom, the guy from the gun show and the vast majority of others who have been accused. |
was arrested on charges of Aggravated Child Molestation stemming from offenses against a four year-old female that took place during early 2013 to mid-2014. To this date, two additional children, a nine year-old female and a six year-old female, have reported similar incidents Everyone keeps talking about the divorce proceedings and are ready to hang the ex/wife for what she 'might have done', but seeing as much of the inner workings of these types of cases as I do - - - some large conspiracy themes containing outside allegations are pretty far reaching IMO. |

So are all of these accusations coming from daughters or other family members or from different children who have no family ties/relationships with the defendant?

Hopefully forensic interviewing will uncover any coaching. |
I was a new-hire with Zerb at ASA in 2000. He is a good guy. This is sad any way you slice it, innocent or guilty. If it's the former, then his ex-wife needs some serious help and should pay dearly for throwing Tom's life and career down the crapper. If it's the latter, then I hope he goes away for a long time and gets some help.

Guilty until proven innocent, seems to be the trend. That being said, if it was one of my daughters, this case would never make it to trial.

If he's proven innocent I doubt we'll get 8 more pages on this thread...
|
Maybe he can call Rand Spear for legal advice.

My daughters lie all the time, but being that they are 7 and 3 years old respectively, he would disappear without a trace... If they lied then, hey man, sorry about your luck. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Mod note:
As sensitive a subject as this is on all points - we aren't going to start talking about knocking anyone off. That aspect of the thread should end here. Thank you. |
