Shotdown by Eagle...

Alright, first post!

Sorta got shot down by Eagle today... called them and was just about to get invited for an interview and got declined. I am a Canadian Citizen (Eh?), and hold a work authorization card and travel documents that let me work and travel freely... I live here permanently and am married to an American Citizen. I am waiting on my Green Card, but it often can take over a year to get. Apparently, my work card and ability to travel is not good enough for them, so I am disappointed since I have no idea when my Green Card will come.:(

I am hoping this is a company thing since everywhere i have looked says "ability to work legally in the US and travel" and nothing about a green card. Anyone know any different?

I am trying to get down to one of SkyWest's open houses, I guess I am going to have to suck it up and pay an airline ticket from Baltimore. Anyone had any callbacks from them from simply applying over the web? 2500TT, 101ME FYI.

Work on the green card. I think most airlines want folks with the permanent right to live and work in the US, I had a friend in a similar situation.

tell them that you didnt want to work for them anyways, hangup

then 5 minutes later theyll call you back begging for you.

its called reverse psychology and the words "women" and "sex" and can be freely interchanged into the above example

Call back...

And hope that you get a different operator!!! Usually works in the service industry.

Silly Canadians ;)

Just kidding...my best friend is a Canuck --- they got some hott chicks there!

Keep your chin up LITTLEa...keep building your TT and something better will come along once you get your green card.

Take care...

I am not sure what kind of work permit you have it might not be enough to work for a U.S airline you might have to have the Green Card I flew in Canada this summer on a Canadian work permit but it spelled out clearly what I would be flying my position and where I would be flying and for who and it was only good for 90 days. I do not know if yours has any such restrictions or not.

Based on what you said you have an I-685, and travel parole. That should be all you need to work for any company in the US along with a valid passport(I'm sure yours is). Eagle might have different requirements or you spoke to someone who has no clue on documentation requirements for alien pilots. You also might want to get in touch with the TSA via http://www.flightschoolcandidates.gov set up a file for approval to fly an aircraft weight above 12500 that requires a type rating. I guess eagle is not desperate for pilots like they portray...Skywest will gladly have you come on board.

I am in the same situation as you. Married here in US. Got my tempo in the passport, which is valid for work AND travel for 1 year after stamped. Unless it is company policy, it shouldnt be a problem. Call them up and explain that what you have is just as valid as a "green card".

I just got hired with TSA, and had to go through www.flightschoolcandidates.gov

Again, call them and explain.
