This is actually one of the better "regional" threads in a while. Good work! Funny stuff...

What's sad is they really are wanting to poach from other regionals. If no one comes TSA will be on their knees. Just visited my old flight school. Only two out of 200+ Pilots had more than 600 hrs. Takes a while to get 1000 - 1500 hrs. No one in the pipeline.

How does getting more planes improve your QOL without pilots showing up? Sounds to me like you will be understaffed, Junior Manned, denied Personal days, and possibly asked to work your vacation.

1) How long 'till TSA is hiring street captains?
2) Will the announcement that TSA is hiring street captains hurt their efforts to find first officers,.....who are chasing the quick upgrade, ("catch 22")?
3) If an 8 year Envoy First Officer takes a street captain position at TSA,.... how much will the pay cut be?

Pretty sure the question you need to be asking is how long until they offer captain pay to FO's. They don't need people in the left seat, they need them for the right seat.

And yet Mesa and PSA seem to have no problem filling classes... and Mesa has one of the worst contracts in the industry.

They're coming from Great Lakes and other crappy places. You're lucky to get one or two CFIs. What happens when they run out of these guys from other regionals? And they will run out. You still need a guy in the right seat, you can't all be captains.

They can't hire street captains per their CBA and that is why they are doing the whole CQFO thing.

Doubtful because if you don't already have the mins it will take you more than a year to get them anyways so their hope is that attrition will allow them to continue to get a quick upgrade once they hit the mins. My guess is that you won't end up with too many lifers with the type of personality that would take the jump from one regional to another.

3) If an 8 year Envoy First Officer takes a street captain position at TSA,.... how much will the pay cut be?

There wouldn't be an hourly paycut for an Envoy FO with a CQFO position as the top out at Envoy ($42) is less than TSA's blended rate ($43.41). The only tough part would be during training where you are paid new hire pay ($24.92) at 60 hours a month until completion of OE with no per diem. Also, no insurance for 30 days.

No one is going to put a "silver platter" in front of you and beg you to go to TSA or any other regional. It's a risk anyone has to take if one is willing to jump ship. If you think that CQFO is going to be all gravy, think twice. You'll have to take one step back before taking two steps forward!

Funny… I think the ExpressJet recruiters just put out the same thing. But because it's ExpressJet it's all okay, right? Trans States is still garbage and doesn't deserve to be at the same airport at ExpressJet. Oddly enough, I've yet to find an article or post from Trans States Recruiting offering to "begin your career as a pilot".

I'd love to see you call a Trans States pilot a scab to their face in the jet bridge.

The carrot of fast upgrades is like the game of musical chairs. Good for some, but when the music stops, it becomes a problem for everyone who isn't sitting in the correct seat.

They'll find their pilots.

I don't think any TransStates pilot would take kindly to being called a scab. I spent two years there and there's no reason for them to take that kind of crap from anyone.

I'm happy for those still there and the improvements these airplanes will bring for them.
