Dear Nicholas Brice

Envoy hitting it hard today with the recruiting. So hard they had no time to proof read.

LaserRacer 12-23-2014 10:00 PM

Indeed... I got the same thing 3 times today... Very tacky.

Mandrake 12-23-2014 11:16 PM

Serious question: Is he my sim partner?

JerkStore 12-23-2014 11:32 PM

I got it as well. Really makes me want to work for an airline who hires people with little to no SA to recruit. I thought I was the only one with the typo! Hopefully Nicholas Brice at least goes to work for them.

CrakPipeOvrheat 12-24-2014 02:32 AM

Dear Nicholas Brice

"How does a direct path to the world’s largest airline sound?"

Define direct.

TheFly 12-24-2014 02:48 AM

Wow, I thought it was just me. I got it too!

AdiosMikeFox 12-24-2014 03:05 AM

Don't feel bad. Our internal comms are riddled with spelling errors and mis-deliveries, too.

They're just trying to make you feel at home.

It's direct, for sure. Problem being that there's no time limit on "direct".

Do you know what direct means?

squawkoff 12-24-2014 05:25 AM

Do you folks think for 1 second that DP would park brand new aircraft to honor a flow agreement if it comes to that? If DP had to choose between a pilot agreement and the shareholders, which do you think he would choose? Trust me. It would be the shareholders.

Ok. When do I start?

Hmm...and if the person doesn't have a 4-year college degree, then what? He's stuck at Envoy forever and cannot flow?

No 4 year degree needed. Not sure where you got that.

Thought a 4-year degree was required in order to fly for any major airline?

No degree required for ENV or PDT flow to AA and they have been hiring everyone at PSA that interviews without a degree as well. AA does not care about the degree like Delta does. If you go to Envoy, PDT, or PSA you will end up at AA if you choose to go.

Most of the legandary pilots from the golden era of airlines did not have college degrees, it has never made anyone a better pilot. It is still a good idea to get a degree (in something other than aviation) for your own good but the days of it being required are about to be over in my opinion.

It'll be a while but it is direct. Personally I woils go to a place with lower upgrade, but it is a nice backup.

Got the same, just figured he was my new bunk mate!!
Bummer, thought Nicolas Brice was going to be my new best friend :(

Wow. Interesting.

eaglefly 12-24-2014 07:59 AM

Guys and gals..........if you're already at a DAL or UAL regional, I'd stay put. As the regional F/O crisis deepens, DAL and UAL will counter with similar "cradle to grave" pipeline paths. You'd be better off continuing to accrue seniority where you are and be patient for the match play that will have to occur to prevent poaching vs. trusting Parker.

Parker is not known for his honesty and I'd consider this a sucker's play for his benefit. try not to get dazzled by what appears to be tasty candy, but that actually is awful.

Just sayin..........

No one from AA has called me about a class date.

Why would they call you about a class date that is years away?

Direct must be something pilots don't understand.

You're basically stuck going through one of their regionals to get to AA if not from the military, or extremely well connected. I haven't heard of anyone getting on at AA from Endeavor, whereas Delta and United are taking the most of our guys. United is taking guys who got the double no from the DAL SSP.

I think this is very smart on the part of Dougie, he is ensuring he has pilots to fly at these 12/4 rates. If you say it is dumb, and people will leave, well, that just simply makes an AA WO regional even more attractive for a newbie.

That is correct. It was a great move on multiple accounts for AA. Not only will the have the cheapest regional feed for many years, they will also have the recruiting advantage over Delta and United with a decreasing pilot supply pool. It will be tough to get on at AA as a civilian pilot if you are not at one of the three wholly owned airlines. It would be interesting if UAL or DAL decided to hire hundreds of PSA/PDT/ENV pilots in just a few months span and force AA to cancel flights.

If they did, it would make AA regionals even look more attractive to newbies, and get current regional pilots to go over there. There will be no canceled flights, that is what a meaningful flow does for you.

Then AA would counteract by hiring from other regionals

Too bad we don't have one. The Flow Through provisions in this new agreement are so sparse as to make them a hinderance. Any newhire can flow through at 5/mth? When AA will be hiring at 700/yr?

Whoopty do. AA historically doesn't hire much from Eagle except for well connected ;) or children of current AA pilots. So to me coming here still wouldn't make sense.

People need to become educated and make informed decisions instead of relying on College and Airline Recruiters, and Kit D.

But they couldn't backfill all the regional pilots leaving their system fast enough, which was my point. It would be funny to see all the airlines try to scramble to keep their regional flights staffed. Delta could, in theory, hire 300 PSA pilots in just two months which would cripple AA's feed out of CLT for many months until they could hire to backfill the loss. AA could then retaliate by hiring a bunch of Endeavor pilots too and cripple Delta's feed out of DTW/MSP. It would be kind if funny to watch them cannibalize themselves.

Pilottim79 12-24-2014 12:52 PM

How many more generations of pilots are going to fall for flow throughs. Yes a token amount get flow, but they are designed to staff the right seat of RJs, not the right seat of legacy.

Flow through keeps the peons at their crappy jobs while AA and Delta can hire all their squadron buddies.

On the passenger side, direct and non-stop are not the same!

The PDT flow dictates it'll be offered to any pilots in order of seniority which are 'available'.

Seat locks apply to new F/Os, F/Os certified to a different aircraft type for 2 Years, captains 1 year from upgrade or equipment change.

It might be smart no pass on the upgrade or equipment change and just flow instead of being tied down to a quickie pay increase!

squawkoff 12-24-2014 02:14 PM

Is history reapeating itself?

This reminds me of the 1990's and the flow through promise to Eagle pilots then.

word302 12-24-2014 02:28 PM

Just had an Eagle pilot who flowed earlier this year on my jumpseat. He said it only took "17 years of misery".

But how is it direct if you have to stop at Envoy first?

Assuming it continues working as the arbitrator ordered (the ONLY reason it IS working now) and mgt is advertising, I will go over in a year, which will be 16 yrs for me.

When I interviewed in 1999, they were saying "five years to American!"

People! They will lie, cheat, and steal to get 1) you on the property, 2) you to cover that open trip, and 3) a reinterpretation of the contract to pay you less for doing more. Even when a fifth grader can read the plain English.
