You need a car or at least access to one. If you are new and on RSV in MDT there are no other portions other than a taxi and those are very unreliable.

Yea Detroit is pretty cheap to live in, I'm pretty sure they are giving houses away there.

I'm just saying, don't knock it until you've tried it. My mortgage on a relatively new 4 br house is way less than I've ever paid for rent in major cities for small apartments. 10 min drive to the airport, pull right up to the terminal, no TSA. PDT bases suck to commute to, but if you live in base it's not so bad. That is one of the only things I will miss about this place when I leave.
