I know it's not an easy task but...

I agree but lets not loose focus, it can be done WITHIN ALPA. I am not a union guy and I am SICK of the stuff coming out of Herndon, however we continue to fail, there was a group formed inside ALPA US Airways carriers, and now the groups keep falling and signing lessor contracts. So how do we get enough people together to make a change? The problem appears that guys feel the current system is OK and that they will get a job at a major. This thread is about the shortage, not the problem with the people already on property.

A year or so ago the GAO office stated, there's plenty of qual. Aviators/pilots....
I will believe in a shortage when my phone does not stop ringing from companies offering me an interview or a job offer, not that BS of CJO or whatever it is.....Nomesaying !!!

And what would that accomplish exactly? Seriously?

Even with a Regional Pilot Alliance, (not including the self correcting "pilot shortage" issue) how will you stop other airlines from underbidding your airline for ACMI flying? The only way to take some of the sting out of it would maybe be to force a nationwide regional seniority list onto every company out there, and then force a much higher cost structure on the entire industry by contract, but LOL good luck with that. Even if you were successful, you'd just invalidate your own business model and you would lose your flying to (mostly ALPA) majors anyway. Then you'd probably call that an ALPA conspiracy as well.

You're implying that ALPA is conspiring to keep your wages low, which implies you are really sitting on a huge gold mine of untapped labor cost increases you can turn on simply by switching bargaining agents. Good luck with that. Really.

That's how it is going to have to be. Through flows, at least that will actually make it appealing to start training. The problem now is there is no incentive to work as a pilot. They will have to fix that and the other major problem is the mainline pilots too that are oblivious to the regional condition, meaning ALPA... they need to do something right now and stand united.

There's incentive enough for millions to plunk down 40-100K on worthless degrees that they know going in will have zero ROI.

We need a new and better GA revitalization act with serious tort reforms for manufacturers especially and some investment in quality experienced based flight schools. Learning to fly is expensive but not nearly as expensive as we try to make it out to be. Everyone doesn't have to learn in all glass million dollar new planes.

The reason to get rid of ALPA at the regionals is it makes it easier for a mainline ALPA to shut said regional down.
