i got one for ya. today, walking through the security checkpoint at iad and this chick who looks like she was right out of high school stops me and says, "trans states? i've never heard of them. do you have a ticket counter?" i say, "yeah, its called united." and she says, "well, i have never heard of your airline, so you cant come through here." my captain, standing at the metal detector, says, "are you kidding? we've been flying out of here for five years." to which she responds, "i dont care, ive never heard of you and you dont have a ticket counter." he then says, "can we see your supervisor please?" she yells out, "supervisor"

anyways, long story short, shes never heard of trans states or chataqua (sp?) so my crew plus one other have to wait until the supervisor shows up and verifies we are real airlines. ignorance is not an excuse.

Are you kidding me? This has got to be a joke. A ramp agent causes a crash. Now pilots go through security while ramp agents continue to use a coded door? Seriously, whose rule is it? FAA or company? That is ridiculous.

It's called security theatre my friend. That rule had nothing to do with safety, but was put in place for public perception. The public is unlikely to notice Joe ramper in a security line, but Joe pilot sticks out like a sore thumb. All the while the flying public is thinking, "oh if the pilots are going thru security, then everyone must be and we must be safe!". If only they knew.....

I tell them. I tell them when they have a fit when I butt in line, with TSA in earshot, that rampers, etc, don't even have to clear security, yet that I have to as a pilot, and therefore I must butt in line. I won't take blame - it's TSA's fault. It's all smoke and mirrors for the sheeple.
