Interview Prep?

In your opinion whats the best way to prepare for an interview? I have interviewed with three different companies with no luck. I am coming from the flight instructing side. Any books you recommend? Thanks in advance.

Go to aviationinterviews.com and find your target airline. If you know there will be a test, the questions or questions like them will be there. Wear a clean suit which fits. Get a haircut. Be on time and be organized with your papers. Be relaxed and not overwhelmed (that is the hardest part). Find out everything possible about the company you are interviewing with. Be friendly and courteous and professional with everyone you meet, especially the receptionist, because they are likely being asked their opinions about you. Be serious, but not too serious. Treat everyone with respect, but do not worship. Be honest in all your answers. They probably don't believe you if you tell them you hope to retire as a captain on the Beech 1900 when you are 60.

Lori Clark who is actually associated with this website through the interview prep link is very good. I know paying for something like that is not an option for some people, but if you're not having luck, and you're serious about this industry, get all the help you can. Lori used to be the HR expert at Mesa. She's a very cool lady and friends with many people in the industry. She may be able to give you that edge. Good luck

Which three places did you apply, and what do you feel "disqualified" you for the job? The thing to remember almost any interview can be aced if you study the gouges and actually practice with someone your respones,, now as for the sim nothing can help you there,, thats just plain old knowing how to fly a plane.

Another good website for interview gouges is http://willflyforfood.cc. Lots of airlines are posted on there, and many of them have current (w/in a few months) interview gouges. In addition, theyll tell you whether they got the job or not, how the hotel was, etc. Hope this helps, good luck.

If you know anyone already in the 121 world, see if they'll sit down with you for awhile and give you some tips, ask you questions, etc. I attribute my interview success entirely to the guy at my flight school who had "been there and done that". It also helps if you've been able to sit in on interviews. I used to hire CFI's and seeing it from the other side of the fence helped immensly.

Thanks for the tips. I have been really studying the gouges on websites listed and they are a great help. I interviewed at Colgan,Airnet,and Ameriflight with no luck. Hopefully my Skywest interview goes good. I have been preparing a lot more for this one so hopefully that will help. This one I want a lot more. Colgan I think I messed up on the HR, Airnet Im not sure really, and Ameriflight I messed my sim up. I hope I can put it all together for this one. My girlfriend was mock interviewing me and it really helped for my HR interview with Skywest. I felt so much more comfortable with them than with her. Kind of weird lol
