Mainline First Choice Poll?
Which is your first choice for a mainline job and why?

Mainline First Choice Poll?
Virgin Galactic
|
JetBlue because they show a pilot respect for what he has accomplished. No simulator evaluation in an airplane you have no experience in, no written test on outdated crap that you never use, no pay for your own type rating (yes, I know it is no longer required...but it was). It is what an interview should be. Tell us about yourself and we will teach you what we want you to know if we think you would be a good fit.
Oh yeah, no psych evaluation where God help you if you sit in the wrong chair. |
If you're going to include jetblue and southwest on that list, you forgot spirit. Southwest is nothing more than the largest regional out there.(aside from appropriate pay)

And there's a difference between the "occasional 4 leg day" and the norm. |
I've seen 6 legs on the airbus at DL. :)

Because over the course of an entire career in an industry filled with uncertainty (ie. risk) and companies lead by crap mgmt teams that regularly go bankrupt, I want to work for the one company that has shown a profit each year for 42 CONSECUTIVE years, has never come close to bankruptcy, and refused to furlough any of it's crews in the wake of 9/11. Oh yeah, one more thing. It's customers are as devoted to the company as Apple customers are to Apple. I'm 100% certain that SWA will still be here 20-30 years from now. Can you say the same about any of the others? Based on what facts? |
And time off and work rules and...
|
The 3 who picked UPS need to rethink it.
|
Is there much difference between UPS and FedEx?

Is this a serious question? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
The best Major Airline to work for is the one that puts your butt in class first.

I can't believe United has three times as many votes than American.

Originally I wanted to end up at FedEx. After working for them for 7 years and the last 3 of those years in Flights Ops as well as my dad retiring from there no thanks. The pay is great but that back side of the clock flying kills your body. I was amazed at all the times I saw people and I thought man you look like that and are only that old?!?!? Tales from the crypt comes to mind. For me personally it just isn't worth killing myself at a faster pace. To each their own though. I would like to end up at JetBlue now and ride them to the end. I think there is room for potential growth, I like their product and I think they are my best shot of getting out my current airline with no PIC.

Oh yeah, no psych evaluation where God help you if you sit in the wrong chair. In other words, you want to work at airlines that have incredibly low standards and will take anyone with a pulse....if that's the case, it sounds like you want to work for the regionals. |

Side question, so you say "eagle pilot' but aren't you at psa? hmmmm |

Yes because we all know that everything is the same for the Express carriers. I'm sure some comair/pinnacle pilots can chime in about great Delta was to them.

Well apparently a lot of the PSA planes say American Eagle on them and I guess today there is no longer us airways express....it's AE.
