ERJ-145 vs. CRJ-200

Hey guys,

I currently have offers at AWAC and TSA. Deciding between which company to go to this summer... Leaning to TSA due to the growth, new contract, upgrades and high potential of an IAD base out of training (I live in Northern Virginia).

Was wondering if anyone on here has flown both the ERJ-145 and the CRJ 200. What are the pros and cons to each airframe? Who likes what better and why?

***** I am not basing any part of my decision of which airline I select on the airframe the airline flies, just curious to see what people think of each airframe in comparison to each other.*****

Have a good one!

Have some respect for yourself and go to AWAC, better pay, better rules, ORF and DCA base....A jet is a jet, (get turbine time, go to major) pretty simple formula.

My concern with AWAC is the uncertainty of its future beyond three years coupled with the fact that upgrade times are currently four years. Hopefully a long term contract will ne negotiated with someone to secure their future, but there is a risk that if I go to AWAC, and things go south, I will still be sitting right seat and will have to jump to another carrier and start all over again.

It is a tough choice. I consistently hear great things about AWAC and have friends that work their and love it. But I need to make the best decision for the family, and right now I don't know if that's it. Still undecided though.

I've worked for both companies. Flown both airplanes. AWAC is infinitely better. That said, I could careless about 200 or 145. The 200 paid my bills much better with much much more time off.

Every regional is uncertain....new people fail to see that regionals can be closed on a whim if not needed. Its about better work rules and better pay if you're concerned about providing. But an airplane is an airplane. You can earn jet time on a single engine piper jet, its all about what pays the bills and what contract sucks less...

If you want a honest answer about flying them.. The 145 is fun to hand fly.. But hated it in weather, and its loud. The 200 is a dog. But sturdy and quiet, that being said if i was stuck flying one for 5+ years, i would take the CRJ200.. Go were you dont have to commute..

The TSA 145 pays bills much better on Captain pay than the CRJ 200 at AWAC will on FO pay.

The real question, is who has the shiniest airplanes? That should be your determining factor right there.
