Ours just basically says if you had a trip with 3 nights of hotels then you get 3 nights of hotels even if they all are in base. Those don't come off the 4 commuting hotels, nor off the OT hotels.
Most guys no longer have crashpads at all.

I don't think there's exact wording for it in our LOA but I believe they have been handling this the same way at PDT. Open time pick up and forced overnights in domicile aren't counting towards the cap.

You only get them at the beginning of a trip also unless you have another trip the next day after a trip. So if you do a late trip and are off the next day then you can't get a hotel while your stuck in base before you commute out the next morning.
