You realize AWAC signed a long term deal (forgot the length, 7-10 years or something) with United in 2003 and several months later United dropped them in BK court? Having a 10 year deal with NWA means nothing as a subcontractor.

As a subcontractor you are at the whim of the code share partner. Don't make this into something it isn't. It's infinitely better to be the one in control of your own destiny. in HMP's opinion, Eagle is a safer bet - but it is still a subcontractor (like you said).

I heard, from a little birdy, United has been in touch with AWAC lately? Any truth or hope for AirWis pilots to be doing some United flying again or was it just a request for flying that United put out? :confused:

It's a private company, internal company memos should stay internal. However I'm sure some yahoo will post internal emails, I love it when they do that. On a side note, don't believe anything till you see a press release and your name is on the dispatch release :D.

It wasn't meant as a jab at you - but for the people in our company that think it's OK to go around posting private memos. AWAC was the only company that was publicly known to be in the running for the Midwest flying, thanks to some knee-jerk posters over on flightinfo. All the other bidders knew AWAC was in the running but AWAC had no idea who else was bidding against them. I don't think that had anything to do with losing the RFP, but it couldn't of helped.

I recieved all this info via phone conversation and not trying to start anything, just hoping my friends (And all AirWis pilots) can someday get a base again closer to the midwest. They hate the commute to PHL. Hopefully Jerry O. (Mesa) has dugg himself into a big enough hole with United by now and Air Wis could reap some new flying! I won't post any internal company communications....but yes, AWAC supposedly has bid on a small amount of UAX flying. That said, if AWAC can't get incremental CRJ-200 growth in our own backyard (MKE), there's no friggin' way we can compete on a cost basis with the current UAX carriers. Either way we'll see, but I don't think even the most optimistic of pilots here is taking this (rumor) seriously.

And fosters, it was widely known that XJT was bidding on MEH flying as well...it was all over FI and APC, and I heard it from many of my friends there.

I actually blame the company more than giddy pilots. They should keep the RFP news confidential until it's been signed by the partner.

Your posts didn't go "right over my head" as you so eloquently put it. I won't post a word-for-word text of internal memos but what is the harm in confirming what this person had been told by SEVEN of our pilots? Hell, if you've taken a look at FI the first post about a possible United RFP was posted by no other than our scheduling chairman. And if you'll recall, the company didn't volunteer any information on this; they simply answered a question posed by a pilot.

Skywest pilots didn't mention anything about the MEH flying because their pilot group didn't know anything about it.

If you want tighter ComSec with Air Wisconsin communications regarding RFPs , shoot an email to management stating as much.

I never compared any companies pay scales i wasnt talking about who makes more money either. I was talking about him saying he didnt care how much money a company paid he just wanted to fly a cool airplane. So you my friend should think about gettin over yourself.

Well said. . .I'm tired of these frat boys from ExpressJet/XJET thinking they are going to take over the world with a toy jet. Their contract is sweet now but just wait, one day it could be too pricey for CAL.
