Ok guys, here's my question:

How easy is it to obtain time off in a row at SKW ? (without using vacation time)

By "obtaining" I mean using any method (bidding for it, dropping it, ect) except for calling in sick!

For all you guys currently at SKW, would YOU be able to obtain say, 12/13 days off in a row in a non-peak month if you wanted to? If not, what is the approx. # of max days off in a row you could obtain?

How big of a role does seniority play in your ability to obtain it?

Is it possible to obtain time off in a row at the end of a bidding period, and then some more days off at the beginning of the following bidding period to get all the days off in a row? (For example, last 8 days in Jan and first 8 in Feb for 16 consecutive days off)

Thanks for your feedback!

yes you can do that if you have the seniority to do so. i bid about 25 in DEN out of about 180 and get that much time no problem.

4-6 on, 2-3 off usually. 10 days off each month.

You would probably not be on reserve long, 1-2 months probably.

PBS gave me 6 days off in a row mid Feb. I'm almost the last line holder in SLC. However, I fly for SkyWest Express, not mainline SkyWest. To answer your question yes you can. However, you need to understand how it works and bid for your seniority.

I heard in ORD reserve is almost non-existent. Is that true? DEN = 1-2months... how about SLC reserve? Thanks.

You might spend a month on reserve at ORD, but then again you might not have to do any... I only had to do a month of reserve and that was just because I wasn't eligible to bid for a schedule in time (hadn't finished IOE).

In SLC you will be on reserve between IOE and when the next bid cycle begins. You might or might not be on reserve the first month that you bid, after that you should be a line-holder (for the near future anyway).

Bidding closes at 0900 on the 17th of each month. If you are done with IOE or almost done with IOE prior to the 17th, the computer should let you bid...get in and attempt to bid while on IOE, you might save yourslef a month of reserve.
