DCI flying going to Aeromex Connect?
The recently announced plan of Delta to own 49% of Aeromexico and the soon to be approeved JV is the first JV Delta has entered that will effect domestic U.S. flying in the Delta network. The mainline pilots will most likely have a production balance based on the current share of flying being done between Delta and Aeromexico.
A big question out there now is how will this JV effect DCI? I believe they can replace all the DCI flying being done between Mexico and the U.S. with Aeromexico Connect after they enter into this JV. I believe Delta can also replace all the DCI 76-seat flying into Mexico with Aeromexico Connect and it will not effect the scope at mainline. This deal is not going to be good for anyone except shareholders.

Not sure on the exact number, but I'd bet DCI does at least 200 flights a week from the U.S. to Mexico....probably more than that actually. Just the flights to MTY are probably close to 100. We run a mini Mexico hub there with 76-seaters.

Probably not. In fact I'd say it's going the other way around.

That is for next month. When the JV gets approved next year, then I don't think there is anything stopping Delta moving the flying to the new JV partner Aeromexico Connect.

Depends, what are their costs compared to DCI costs? Wouldn't surprise me a bit if we are the cheaper operations at least on the crew costs. When it comes to crews, America tends to be at or near the bottom especially in the under 100 seat arena.

Wrong. They will simply let AeroMexico fly the routes and codeshare... cost is not even a factor. Then, DL can redeploy those frames elsewhere.
