hotel points
I know it is common for 135 and fractional guys to keep hotel points that the company puts you up at. But can airline guys get the same perk?
|
In most cases no, but there are few that do. Others let us put in our rewards number for status building only. Last year I was able to get HHonors Gold, by bidding our Mexico overnights. They let us collect points there. I just ask at just every hotel I stay. Most say no. Some say yes. Sometimes you can put in a credit card and get points by charging a meal to your room or something. You won't get much, but it's something. The main thing is that your experience will vary.

Pro tip-
Make sure you run up to the counter, with no intention of signing everyone in, and start arguing with the front desk over if you get points or not. "I come here allzzzz the time and they did it last week, gagagagagagagagaagagagagagagaag". All while the clerk holds the sign in sheet hostage. Chicks dig it. |

99% of the time, no. You're there under a negotiated discounted rate and are not paying the bill (e.g. With a company credit card with your name on it.)
At the end of the day it should make NO difference who is paying the bill. Bottom line is we are away from our friends/family doing this job. We should be getting the points, but sadly many wont give them to you. Dumb. |

While I understand what your saying, it shouldn't matter. How many "business guys" are put up in hotels form their company and they collect the points?
. It's different with the "business guys" because they rarely stay at rates that we stay at. Also, from my experience, business travelers are capable of choosing where they stay, and pay with a company credit card, or file an expense report later. This gives them the buying power and the hotels reward that. We are left out of that equation. Buying power is key. Loyalty is what's being rewarded. We aren't loyal, we simply do what we're told. Hotels could give a rats a$$ if we are away from home. They certainly aren't going to give away free stays, gifts, upgrades, breakfasts, lounge access to crew members staying on minimum rates. If I was a hotel owner I certainly wouldn't. That all said, hotels still do make plenty of money off our contracted rates, otherwise they wouldn't negotiate them, especially in off-season tourist towns. |
IHG and Drury will usually give points. Some of the IHG hotels don't give points but the stay still counts as a qualifying stay.

Not sure what this has to do with regional airlines, but thanks for bragging.
and yes it was relevant...and it's not bragging, after 5 years with 3 different regionals, stating a small perk, get over yourself |

A lot of Hilton properties stopped giving us points/credits for stays. The reasons range anywhere from crew members acting ghetto to the company pays and not us. I had made it to gold status with them. Now I can barely maintain new card member status.
