KPDX to KLAX commute... ok or ugly?

Wondering how many of you do the commute-to-work thing, and what to expect if I end up doing it. I don't want to permanently move out of the great Pacific Northwest, and I've been reading the warnings here to avoid commuting at all costs. But if I HAVE to do it for a little while, would a 2-hour flight PDX-LAX be manageable? Plus, I could do a crash pad a few nights a week.

Ugly... You may have to 2 leg it through SFO or SMF

Totally false. Tons of flights on ual and Alaska. You'd never need to go thru sfo.

Commuting sucks but this would be one of the easier ones

Going anywhere out of LAX or SFO is routinely oversold. Do it with caution.

Delta also does several.

I Ment commuting back from LAX-PDX. That's a tough nugget. There are plenty of flights yes, but there are also a lot of pilots that live in and around Portland that fly for majors and regionals.

LAX crash pad

If you do end up needing a crash pad I definitely recommend this one.

I've been in one of the apartments for over 6 months and have been very happy. Clean and convenient and no "hot bunks". $300 - $350 a month.

Good luck,
Dan

Commuting in or out of PNW is notoriously bad. Would depend on the airline and equipment... If you have own metal priority on a bus, that would mitigate the pain. JSs are more comfortable too... You'll come to appreciate that.

I know it's not PDX, but I've commuted SEA-GEG, SEA-ANC, and SEA-LAX.

LAX was the easiest.

Yup. Plenty of commuters out of Pdx as well. No big deal.
