Nothing wrong with wearing a hat. It just looks tacky when I see a pilot prancing through the hotel lobby in uniform with their hat on

That's preferable to prancing about naked except for hat and watch. 😄

Serious question - I've read about most every Regional operator, pros cons etc, etc, but yet to really look at the Majors so..... why is Delta considered by some to be so much better ?

Speaking of hats, what is it with guys who wear theirs...

1. In the hotel breakfast room
2. In the hotel lounge
3. In the van
4. In the crew lounge while on an extended sit. (Saw one SKW captain watching a movie in the SFO crew lounge with his hat on)

Lord, what is wrong with these people? Or am I the crazy one?

They have enough money to buy beer.

I think its a perception that they're pickier with their pilot selection. Whether that's accurate or not, I can't say, but from what I've gathered that seems to be the perception.

Personally, I like them because as a passenger, I've always found their aircraft to have the best level of comfort (for US airlines). Also found their customer service to be particularly good. Would prefer to work for an airline that I feel serves the customer well (and pays well :D )

Best I've been on so far though was Austrian. Primarily because the food was awesome (relative) and the beer was great.

I always found it easier to stick it on your head than carry it around.

Yes, but in the breakfast room? While eating breakfast? Or watching a 2-hour movie? Seriously? When I was growing up, one removed one's hat indoors. I understand having to wear it in the terminal, but I'm sorry, anyone who wears it indoors while eating a meal or vegetating on a crew lounge couch...is someone I hope to never have to fly with.

Seriously? I rode in the back for years being bounced around from one QS tail to another and a Delta MD-88 made for a terrible day. American too for that matter. Maybe you're in First more often than I was. But, from a pax stand point, it all sucked once you passed the curtain.

Selfmade92 03-17-2016 08:11 PM

Hey girls are really turned on by the hat, my gf can't wait to take a pic with the hat lol.

I wonder when we are going to see a Delta Jet painted in an NWA tribute scheme?

deltajuliet 03-17-2016 09:55 PM

Hope it's the Bowling Shoe livery.

I think they're perceived as being more employee-friendly than United or American, at least until recent contract negotiations. Pay scales have been near the top of the legacies for a few years as well; many expect that to continue when they finally pass the next TA.

How long ago was your experience? I'm talking about current/last couple years.

TalkTurkey 03-18-2016 06:01 AM

Damn I had a great pic with a DL captain and FO without their hats on, and with the captain standing with his mouth open. But the pic is too big to post and I'm too stupid to resize it.

Al Czervik 03-18-2016 06:32 AM

Your hat is on guard

2008-2015. I preferred the ERJ170 over the 73 or -88. But like I said, once you passed the curtain on all of them it was a Greyhound bus. I saw no differentiation of product between UA/DL/AA in steerage. Now, when it was a last minute ticket and only First was available then life was good! Coincidentally, the one airline that I can't stand, WN, has hands down the best people working for them providing the best customer service. If they would just get rid of that f#ck!ng 737.

^^^^ This right here. I have always wanted to fly for Delta and appreciate the way they treat their customers. I don't enjoy the experience when I fly on other airlines and I want to be part of an airline that treats its customers like they have a choice in who they use.

SayAlt 03-18-2016 08:48 AM

Like, Delta fer shure, dude, 'cause they like know how to treat their customer's like intellibent adalts...

I'm sorry too, because if that's all it takes to make you not want to fly with someone, you have serious, serious issues man.

Thanks for erasing any doubts about your ignorance regarding 'Uniform' issues!

Hotel Lobbies happen to be a ‘Public Place’, and that’s where a hat is not only acceptable, but required if part of one’s uniform.

But, it seems you’re clueless about ‘time and place’ for a uniform to be worn.

Can't hold the hat, drag the bags, and cradle the free coffee with just two hands. Something has to give..
