Default ASAP Confidentiality Breached!

Recently the ASAP system confidentiality was breached by a FOX news reporter's FOIA request. Though the problem was mostly the fault of the FAA, this reporter's yellow journalism and intent to hold onto private information for sensationalist ends is intolerable.

Here is the link to her article:

Danger in the cockpit: FAA records show pilots fly drunk, engage in criminal activity | Fox News

Her story, paints ALL pilots as incompetent, untrustworthy, criminal, drunks.

Dudes, I fly freight, is there any way you pax guys can make sure she never steps foot on a commercial flight again in her life?

The article doesn't specify ASAP, and I doubt it was. Substance abuse, criminal activity and intention actions are not accepted into ASAP.

Actually ASAP related data was released. There were no names associated or any actual ASAP reports. I can't give you a source because it was an internal company memo.

The email I received stated that names had been released and those individuals were being contacted.

According to our company and union names of people who submitted ASAP reports were released. It sounded like there may have been de-identified reports released as well. But that's great that the names of a bunch of pilots who wrote ASAPs were bunched together on a list with pilots with violations, drinking/drugs in the cockpit and criminal activity.

Our union told us that they sent the documents back when told it was not supposed to be released to them.

Our company and Union said only non-single source reports and associated actions. So, those who received certificate actions would be released with their name, the action but not what they did.
