Commuting from EGLL to KEWR
 

No anyone who commutes from Europe to states ?

Not anymore but when I worked for a commuter out of EWR we had a FA who had a BF in EGLL and she commuted a few times a month. She said she never had issues.

Maybe just work for a company in Europe instead of having to cross the pond several times a month

Man, I thought the guys commuting West Coast US to New York had it tough.

It's actually easier international vs transcontinental.

Every time I head overseas it puts a toll on me, with the jet lag and timezones, maybe other handle it better. It's gonna be tough on a reserve schedule with 11-12 days off, eating up a good 6-7 hours for the flight alone.

EGLL? Seriously? We can't say LHR like a normal person?

This guy uses no and know interchangeably. Not a normal person.

I can't imagine commuting from Europe for a regional job unless you were a very senior captain and could bid back to back high-credit trips. I don't see how it could work as an FO or junior CA. Also, LHR has pretty high departure taxes, over a $100 a pop I think, depending on the £. Not sure if there's a way around them as a jumpseater.

Cargo airline out of LHR/London area avoids the tax, or so I've been told...

Commuting on a ONE HOUR flight has almost driven me bonkers at the regionals, especially being on reserve and to a junior line. I could not imagine coming across the ocean...I'd probably jump off the boat!!!

Most of our European commuters to EWR will purposefully move all their trips to as close together as possible. This way they're only commuting once a month. You may not have this flexibility when just starting out, especially on reserve.
