Comair ALPA Reaches TA at 11th Hour

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/...s/4548899.html

No details on the terms, but this has got to be better than the company just having its way. The rank and file have until March 4 to vote.

man, it always has to come down to the wire.

Comair TA

"It's the best we could do given the situation and circumstances", (ALPA spokesman) Denke said.

Airline managements have learned how to get almost everything they want without the dangerous "press-to-test" of imposing a contract and fighting a strike in Federal court. Just get a compliant BK judge to SAY you can do it, (even though another court would have the last word), make a token reduction in your demands, and you win.

The sad thing is that, given the pro-management bias in our court system, Denke was probably correct. :(

I'd like to see what it says before forming an opinion, but you're probably right.

Mosyslack 02-14-2007 12:13 PM

I've got a projected 50 million reasons to vote it down before I even see one sentence.

cessna126 02-14-2007 12:43 PM

So go ahead and vote it down and just have the company's terms implemented. Why?

Assuming (always a fun adventure) the TA is for a period of 4 years then add a few on top of that for negotiating a new contract. If we get imposed upon (probably for more $$$ than this TA...again an assumption), we are in Section 6 negotiations upon exit from BK. I would assume (there's that ugly word again), that the company would drag those out longer than "the norm".

Spite (never a good/sound reason to vote upon)

And because I have already worked for Mesa once and do not want to go down that road again, even if my paycheck says Comair. The Mesa mentality is here.

I know that this is a TON of assumptions and what if's. This is just my position as a PO'd FO. They have continualy lied and my need to work under an agreed upon contract very low right now. Actually, I should say that there are very few things I would actually vote for right now...a payraise would be one.

cessna126 02-14-2007 01:25 PM

So your saying that this TA may have a bigger paycut than the imposed terms?
