Here, read this thread on another forum. It has actual Delta pilots speaking out against COMAIR.

If your true goal is DAL I wouldn't got to Comair. Interview? Heck yeah for the experience. Work there? Probably not.

I personally have qite a few good friends at DAL, they are good people. Others stating their opinion whether true or not especially Mr. MDPilot shows the inmaturity, unprofessionalism and animosity that airlines need to get over. It is absurd to hold a grudge towards a group of pilots as a whole on what an MEC does, especially years ago. This statement that MEC represents is true but does that permit any individual because of disagreement of policy or bylaw to go in there and say, you're outta here!" That is absurd. No airline is perfect and we are ALL fighting an industry...(management) for the same reasons, pay QOL etc...but yet we have a rivalry towards our own. Childish, deal with it and move on. Dakavich I believe is right on in his statement. My advice, do what is best for yourself an family, whether Comair or anyone else and do not worry about whether DAL or any other airline will hire. If the very few DAL pilots have a problem with Comair, so what, I sure won't lose sleep over it and if they truely do not want me there because I worked for Comair, believe me I do not and will work for such a childish group. Very simple. The wholething is just ridiculous, and a waste of my time. Many choices out there, I have been furloughed as well in past, I know what its like. I fly because I enjoy to fly, and treat others with respect for A: being a "professional" brother PILOT, and B: just for being a nice guy. I dont give a hoot what uniform you wear. But show me the childish attitude, "I dont like you caue you're with this airline", or worse yet, "I hope they liquidate you guys" as stated by MRMD PILOT < I will be the first one escorting you off my airplane. We as professionals have worked hard, and ALL have had their sufferings at there respective airlines. Don't spread your troubles on to me. I do not need it or want it. Ok thats my piece on how I feel. I apologize for going on an on but I had to vent. Been flying for 16years and four airlines and I am sick of the minorities out there with the attitude like MR. MDPILOT for DAL. DAL has great people, but the few knuckleheads sure know how to bring that airline down. Guess we all have those kinds though. Foster do what you feel is best, take everything with a grain of salt and do NOT listen to the few on a message board that have an opinion on what their respective airline is doing. Unless they are actually in the hiring committe which I highly doubt, their claim or opinions are baseless. They may have their opinion onhow they feel on Comair but have as much of a say as I do on who gets hired, which my friend is none.

I interviewed on Wed. Still haven't heard back. There's a good chance I didn't get it though. I got the unlucky draw and got asked a bunch of tech questions I really wasn't sure about, even though I studied alot. Hopefully the HR part and my recomendations help though.

Why would you go to Comair with times like that?

I had 1200 TT and 140 Multi. I got hired at Comair. Even if they are taking less then 600 and 100 I think you personaly have to be ready for the challange. There are guys in my class that havent even set foot into any jet powered AC at all and dont know anything about systems. I have never flow a jet but I have taken a CRJ bridge course. That helps alot. Comair now gives you 3 full motion sims in the first week, small bridge course. I would at least read up on stuff, so when the instr. talks about N1 you at least know what it is.

I think it is unfortunate that Comair pilots have kept in place a rogue MEC for years. This is a case of the group being held accountable for the actions of their leaders who they elected and have kept in office over time. When the Comair leadership could not achieve a political victory within ALPA, they chose to turn on the association with the RJDC. Additionally, the Comair MEC has always acted hostile towards DALPA and Delta pilots. They have always viewed their relationship with the Delta pilots as what's mine is mine and what's yours is half mine. This is very personal to Delta pilots and if you haven't been part of it from the Delta side of the table you wouldn't understand.

I personally thought MDPilot's remarks were balanced for the most part if you read the whole thread. He was pressured into giving his opinion and got a little emotional. He later apologized for his statement he wouldn't mind seeing Comair being liquidated. I think you are being unrealistic to suggest he should be expected to forget his personal history when it comes to Comair. When asked if he would automatically dislike a Comair pilot he said no. Delta pilots treat the individuals who they see in passing in the airport or on their jump seats with respect, but they are not going to be as excited to allow them into the fold as pilots from other airlines. There are plenty of other airlines for Comair pilots to go to, although some other ALPA carriers may have problems with the RJDC since it has sapped resources that ALPA could have put to better use. This is just a simple natural consequence to taking a stand, nothing personal.

I know they interview on Tues, Wed, and Thur, of every week. Job offers usually go out on Friday. Hang in there, they may be backed up or maybe changed things a little.

Shoot them an email next week.
