Which Regional Airlines Will Survive?
I'm probably going to get crap for starting a thread like this however, I do not care. I have been studying this industry for quite some time and I think that it is fairly evident that the regional airlines are currently having trouble filling pilot slots. In the future, I think they will have trouble obtaining pilots to the point of dissipation. Although the regional airlines may never go away completely, I do believe some may be acquired by other regional carriers or go into bankruptcy or something else.
Through all of this studying, I have wondered which regionals will be able to retain enough pilots and be stable enough to make it through this shortage. I have my thoughts but I am wondering what other pilots think. So, which regionals do you think will be able to survive over the next 20 years plus? Here's the list: -Air Wisconsin -Cape Air -CommutAir -Compass Airlines -Endeavor Air -Envoy Air -ExpressJet -GoJet Airlines -Great Lakes Airlines -Horizon Air -Mesa Airlines -Piedmont Airlines -PSA Airlines -Republic Airlines -Silver Airways -SkyWest Airlines -Trans States Airlines This isn't every single regional airline in the U.S. but I took a majority of them. So, which of these do you think will be able to survive? I understand that its impossible to know exactly which are going to make it through this hiring binge at the majors, but off the top of your head which do you think would make it? Thank you in advance to everyone who responds. |
Who cares? Speculating is pretty pointless.

There's literally a thread in this 4 pages down the line, last posted about a week ago... 20 years, is even WAY to far to even speculate on the legacies, much less regional carriers. Enjoy the roller coaster.

I hear Comair is a solid outfit.
No offense, but who the heck knows?! |
You're going to get crap because a thread was already created. Do a search before you post.

Put together a top ten list. Make sure your drum sound effects work every time.

It depends on class size obviously. My regional is starting to trickle to a handful each class.

Somehow we (SKW) keep attracting 100 to class every month. Despite losing 60 a month we've still seen a net growth of 800+ pilots in the last 2 years.
