Sorry in advance if this is covered in another thread. Retired mil guy thinking of getting back in the game after 10+ years out. I never got my ATP, so I would be doing the ATP-CTP course on my own or through a company willing to pay for it. I have heard most folks take the ATP written the day after completing the course. My question is this: when do you take the actual ATP check ride? Do you do that on your own or can you accomplish it during training/once you get to the line?
Thanks in advance.

Most regionals (all?) will pay for everything now. I think they send you off to do the ATP classroom stuff before everything else, you take the written test, then come back and start Indoc/Systems/etc. Then after you pass your Oral, you get a handful of simulator training sessions. That culminates in the actual ATP checkride.

ExpressJet does the complete CTP/ATP as part of new-hire training. You may just need to do the written on your own. There are places that do the written test prep on a weekend.
The type is included as part of training and if the airline does training through AQP the atp/type is issued in training and is validated when IOE/line check is done.

At psa you interview then get a conditional job offer. they provide transport to dayton put you up in single occupancy room while you take the course. after you pass the written you start basic indoc the following monday as a new hire on the payroll. you take your check ride after you complete intitial training.
