I really wish we could post some schedules that you are able to make at PSA so you could really understand the benefit of the SAP.

Here is an example of what you can do from real world experience. Even the most junior line holder can do any of these things.

Example 1:
June 1-4 - 20 hour 4 day trip
June 5 - 4 hour 1 day trip
June 6-7 - Off
June 8-11 - 21 hour 4 day trip
June 12-13 - 8 hour 2 day trip
June 14-16 - Off
June 17-20 - 20 hour 4 day trip
June 21-30 - OFF
July 1-14 - OFF
July 16-18 - 22 hour 4 day trip
July 19 - Off
July 20-23 - 18 hour 4 day trip
July 24 Off
July 25 - 5 hour 1 day trip
July 26-30 - 21 hour 4 day trip

This would give you 73 hours in June and 66 hours in July. This is below minimum pay, and you would be paid below guarantee, but you would have 15 days off in June and 16 days off in July - with 24 days off in a row during the summer without using a vacation.

With the SAP, you can easily take the first 4-5 days of every month off and again the last 4-5 days of every month. That gives you at least an 8 day vacation every month - as long as you don't mind working hard during the middle of the month.

If you take a one week vacation, you can easily get 20+ days off in a month.

Please explain SAP? Is it a system similar to Flica?

There really isn't such a thing as a "junior" line holder at PSA. If you are round 1, you have the ability to make your schedule to your liking.

PSA?
I worked at Envoy and made a lateral move to SkyWest. The comments about Envoy schedules are correct... horible. I couldn't take the commuting to ORD even being somewhat senior FO.. Stay away for a Delta Regional if you live in ATL a hub to hub commute would be ruff.

Default Where do you want to live?

Living in domicile is the biggest factor related to QOL. For me TSA has been incredible. I'm happy to answer questions if you want to PM me.

I generally just try and go for 4-5 days off between trips. Helps balance the work/family life. Over the late summer/early fall months I would build my schedule to get 8 days off in a row and my wife and I would use the travel benefits and go on a vacation every month. It was pretty nice and just another highlight about working here.

I commute and I disagree. I'd say having complete flexibility with your schedule is much bigger (to me) than living in base. Living in many domiciles can mean a higher cost of living, higher taxes, etc. For instance, in order to afford something in the Charlotte area that suits my families needs, we would have to live 30-45 minutes outside of the city out in the sticks. Why would I leave my home near the beach in a nice city and a nice house just to live in base? Especially when my commute is relatively painless.

Living in base is a huge qol booster when you're on reserve, no doubt. But if you're a line holder, especially somewhere like PSA where you have complete schedule flexibility because of our SAP it becomes far less important. All of my trips in my November schedule are commutable on both ends and not one is worth less than 20 hours of credit and I have Thanksgiving off. And that was my original award. I used the SAP to get some overnights where I live and some days off I wanted. And I'm not particularly "senior" in base. I'm just your average round 1 FO.

Flica is a software used for scheduling. Stands for Flight Crew Access, I believe. It is just a computer program/website.

SAP is Schedule Adjustment Period.

We happen to use Flica for our software. The SAP is managed through Flica, but it could be managed through any such program.
