Regional Airline Hiring Numbers

1 Attachment(s)
I put together some hiring numbers based on the probationary pilot data that ALPA puts out. I've been collecting the data for a while now. It is fairly accurate, +/- 1 pilot per month. It does not count for attrition as it is only a snapshot of the past hiring. This may be interesting to some people.

The CommutAir numbers are off. When I get some time, I will send you the right numbers. I know Oct was in the 20's.

Interesting that new hires are increasing during a "pilot shortage."

The data could be skewed or shifted too based on the local councils reporting member registrations to ALPA national. These numbers all come from a master list of names and dates, which I obviously will not post.

Unfortunately doesn't necessarily mean a net gain of regional pilots, but could be pilots making lateral moves from regional to regional. Take L-XJT for example, our list has shrunk from 3,000+ to about 1,800 over the past few years.

Can you explain the 2nd chart please?

FYI, if it helps at all, EDV has gone from about 1560 to 1696 this year.

How in the name of all that is holy has Mesa attracted over 500 in the last year. Take away the interview and they will come... I guess.

Thanks for the info. In the current hiring environment how difficult is it to get hired at a decent regional? I remember reading the "can you fog a mirror?" posts in the past, just not sure if it is still this easy. Is it still the case that the airlines are struggling to fill seats?

The second chart is just a proportional chart over time. The 100% is the cumulative total of the series represented as a percentage. The numbers inside the bars are the hiring numbers.

I would love to see SkyWest hiring numbers in there if possible
