What is a real job and how much do you have to make? A cfi isn't a real job? Last I checked I get paid to be a CFI. I didn't sell anyone out to do it and didn't sell my soul to fly something shiny with jet engines on it. If you think you have to work for a regional to know which ones have the better work environments then I'm betting you took the first offer you got and regret it. I didn't take the first one and I don't regret it. Your best advice is crap.

I might not work for a regional but that doesn't mean I haven't been looking and when I look into something I do my best to make my decision an educated one. Pay, work rules, environment, employee satisfaction, location, reserve time, benifits, 401k contribution, future outlook, stability, ect. You don't have to wait till you make a mistake to learn from it.

You work for Mesa don't you?

LAFF, there's no such thing as a commutable line at Mesa. Under current conditions there, you could hold reserve. Mesa has ready reserve(you sit at the airport 8-12 hours a day) and mostly don't fly. With 8 days off per 28 that reserve pilots get...you won't be seeing much of the fam. You still have a ways to go before you have to worry about that stuff anyway. Prep for your training and enjoy the ride till then.

Where are you based Slice?

It's the cost of doing business and they should absorb it.

Great points Slice. I will say this, your $50 is better spent at Mesa, you will have a job offer unless you are complete idiot and they even seem to get through once in awhile so you got a shot Duck.

This may be going away, they are really having trouble getting people in the interviews anymore. Don't get me wrong, this place can be a real ****** hole they brought it on themselves, definately. If it was the place to be people would throwing $50 at them for an interview.

172 and paying $50 just to get an interview at one of the worst companies out there is wrong no matter how you slice it or dress it up.

Im with you Toilet, MESA isnt worth the 50$ app, I would rather be in a 172 than any of their airplanes. Wait and go to a better regional, MESA is a bottom feeder.
The fella that made a comment about being a CFI, thats a good................... thing MESA has a pilot group of which more than a few skipped out on being a CFI to get into that low paying airline job of theirs with only 300hrs ttl time, be strong.............MESA isnt worth your time or money
