Republic G/B/U

Im looking for the good, bad, and, ugly on Republic. I understand every regional sucks according to most individuals on here, but I have to go some where. I have looked at the, "Republic after the contract" post and it just turned into why Express jet was better than Republic, please don't turn this into that.

Thanks

Are they still in bankruptcy? That alone is a reason to take a "wait and see approach".

Im about 8-10 months out from making a decision, so I am taking that approach.I would just like to see if anyone has anything positive to say about the company.

Wait 8-10 months and then gather information. You're a ways away and things change fast.

The Good:

Reserve rules (No airport standby, short call and long call options)
No junior manning
One of the highest base hourly rates
Fleet growth this year (12 United 175s and some DL 170s)
Multiple base choices (more than half are outstations though)

The Bad:

Bankruptcy (We will be out of it soon)
Outstation basing
Upgrade times are still over 3 years (should be decreasing)

Don't let the negative perception that RAH used to get influence your decision. I had many people tell me how terrible Republic used to be (which I don't doubt) but it is a great place to be now. The new contract fixed most of the issues (not all) the company saw in the past. All of the crew members I have flown with have been great (every company has a few that aren't) and we are drawing quite a bit of new hires each month. I declined offers from 2 other regionals to come to Republic (mainly so I didn't have to commute) and I love it here. I do not regret my decision at all. Almost all of the negative things people told me in the past are no longer true. I used to fly part 135 and my QOL at RAH is exponentially better. In the end most of the larger regionals all have similar pay. My advice is to pick a company where you don't have to commute and wouldn't mind spending time at if the majors don't call or we have another economic downturn.

I know a guy who left EDV for RAH, and is happy there now. YMMV

This is good stuff, I appreciate it. Could you elaborate on the outstation basing? Where is this occurring?

Thanks

For example: PIT, CMH, MCI.

The outstation bases have early flights to hubs and late arrivals from hubs making the schedules tough to commute sometimes (5am show or 11pm arrival times means you have to spend the night in a crash pad if you are commuting). However, it all depends on what base you pick. You can hold basically any base within 6-10 months.

What's the wait looking like for ORD?
