Default Upgrade

Hey there people of Republic, just a friendly question about your upgrade times and process.

Last time I spoke with someone from Republic upgrades were at around 3 years. Is this still the case? Would it still be the case for someone coming in with 1000+ hrs of 121? Do you get displaced to a junior ca base? Is there a lot of reserve time for the newly upgrades?

I know Envoy, PSA, Endeavoy and probably others are all doing forced upgrades or basically upgrading as soon as you hit 1000 hrs on company but wasn't sure if Republic was feeling the pain yet.

Any insight or predictions are welcomed! thanks!

I don't see any of that happening at republic any time soon. We still have so many FO's that choose not to upgrade so they can stay in base. I would not come here for a quick upgrade, even with 1000 121 time. There are still 2000-2011 hire FO's who have not upgraded in our senior bases that would be force to upgrade before they displace a new hire with prior 121. And not to mention all the 2012+ guys they could force to upgrade as well before you. Upgrade times have dropped a few months yes, but I don't see it being the "once you hit 1000 you upgrade" scenario you mentioned anytime soon... if ever.

I think what the OP is talking about is the reverse seniority upgrade. What they're experiencing at Envoy is the senior FOs actually getting to stay FOs while the most junior FOs who are qualified to upgrade being forced to upgrade. There is a clause in their contract that allows them to do that. I'm not up on whether our contract allows this or if the contract requires the company to upgrade the most senior FOs first as you describe. Is there contract language on this?

Regardless I agree with you that this is not going to be relevant for Republic any time soon. Upgrade times remain around 3 years and have been very steady at that mark since they recovered from the 2008 fallout.
