Yeah, Republic isn't very commuter friendly. Yet I would say most guys I know and meet are doing it. Especially for captains because it takes longer to change bases once you upgrade.

Just a heads up on the base drop, it looks like EWR is going to be receiving more new hires in the coming months than the typical trend of CMH and IND. More vacancies in EWR than we usually see were posted for January.

I keep seeing people say that YX isn't commuter friendly. I understand that unless it's our metal we aren't as high on the totem pole.. but why is that the common though for commuting with RAH? Just the NE bases in the winter??

Outstation basing. If you’re based at outstation you most likely will not have commutability

Outstation meaning like IND, CMH? Bases not really mainline hubs?

Yes. At those bases almost all of the pairings begin around 6am on day 1, and return late at night (11pm) on the final day (day 3 or 4). Commutes in and out have to happen on your days off. Compare that to a hub like EWR, where there are more pairings that start later in the day (say, 11am) and end earlier (4pm), allowing guys to catch commutes before and after they finish their trips.

But were still somehow "The Outstation Regional". Meanwhile other carriers have bases like ORF and TYS and DAY.

True, but 4 of the 7 are pretty senior for captains. PHL is our smallest base now, and ORD isn’t much better. The outstations are huge. IND and CMH both have 150 plus captains. I love my outstation, but I live there now. No way I would commute to a outstation. Especially with the way they’re cracking down on occurrences.

From a Scheduling standpoint, LGA is treated like an outstation.
