I would like to second this. About to finish training and currently live in MCO. If anyone could give me a tip when commuting to LGA from MCO. Seems like there is a lot of outbound and inbound flights. found 19 flights to LGA in one day.

I don't believe there is an MIA base anymore, so I wouldn't count on holding it.

Does anyone have experience living in MIA and commuting to LGA/DCA/EWR with Republic? I am planning on going with Republic and would like to live in the MIA/FLL area and if I am not able to hold MIA I was wondering if anyone could provide some insight to this commute. I figure winter would be a pain for commuting but not sure if it's even do-able. Thank you and long time reader, first time post!

Why in the world would you choose to commute with Republic instead of driving to work with Envoy? There is not a single contract/pay/QOL/etc advantage at the regional level that can justify commuting when you have other options.

I would much rather commute than work at Envoy. In fact, that’s the exact decision I made.

So you’d rather sacrifice your days off to get in to position? Worry about making the one flight home? Sit reserve in a crashpad instead of on your couch? Spare me the hot reserve argument, would still rather drive to work to sit hot reserve before flying in the day before to sit reserve in a crashpad. Choosing to commute when this guy has an option otherwise is just insane. These are regionals… not a single one is worth commuting for.

I’ve never been unable to get on a commuting flight, have always been able to make the commute on the front end or back end of the trip (sometimes both), and was only on reserve for about one month off OE. We’ve got really great work rules & an excellent company culture comparatively, and we’re not wholly owned by a historically inept parent company.

I would choose to commute to RPA or OO before I’d work for any of the wholly owned or Mesas of the world just to live in base.

To each his own.

MIA is not guaranteed. It’s a 175 base for Envoy and if you get the 145 in ORD or DFW. You’re seat locked until you upgrade. Good luck with that mess.

Exactly why I didn’t pursue them. If you were thrown to the 145, that’s two years not being able to go to MIA. And by that time, you may already move on by then.
