First time hearing this, last rumors I heard were that we might get DEN after the Mesa merger is done. But I haven't heard any new rumblings about that in months.

No idea how many departures we have outta there but I’ve been spreading that rumor (jokingly) for 2 years now. Take that as you want, haha.

In reality, until it is officially announced by the company (for any rumor) nothing is certain. And never make decisions based on rumors.

First time I’ve heard of it. I would be ecstatic with a Memphis base since I lived there for a majority of my life and all of my family and my wife’s family are there.

I just don’t think Memphis has enough traffic to justify it, could be wrong though.

Same, I’ve heard about Denver and “Florida” more than I can count, from credible sources to boot. Never heard of MEM, we do more flying out of BNA or RDU lol

Its not about the amount of flying, its about cheap MX hanger space.

gotcha, if that’s the case then it would be hard to find a cheaper international airport with hangar space than MEM.

mx base ≠ crew base

I think we are on the same page

Post merger ELP and TUS is going to be a mx base, but you won’t see crews being based there. One great example is Envoy and CMH, don’t have a crew base but a large mx base with a few RONs. Mx base is much more plausible then a crew base imo

Mesa, before they got kicked out of Denver by United, had like 2 or 3 gates they used. You think you'll get them back after the merger? I promise, I'm not trying to be a jerk here, I am honestly curious what your thoughts are?

Mesa doesn’t get gates. United gates are United gates. Your logic makes the C8 gates at ORD Republic gates, even though Republic and SkyWest park there together. I’m not sure what you mean. Republic had a base in Denver and will likely grow out west with 90 new airplanes coming in the next two years. The northeast is very saturated, so there’s room for growth at IAD, EWR is overfull, and ORD is full. United likes competing Express carriers because it creates competition to improve. When one carrier outperforms, United pays for the increased bids for the route because it sees the price increase worth it if reliability improves. (SkyWest lost LGA, BNA, and MCI 2 months ago.) OO is the only UAX carrier in Denver, and UA isn’t happy with your performance. Competition makes OO want to block in early, push on time for EDCTs when appropriate, etc. Many pilots at OO don’t push or even board until their EDCT and fly at .64 because your pay rules aren’t the most fair where they don’t get block or better, like other carriers. This information comes from multiple people at OO, both FOs and CAs. Competition is healthy, and the majors want results.
