Actually, no one knows exactly why it happened. NTSB hasn't found a probable cause yet.

Almost 2 years ago, same runway, but one of our 140's. So much for being tarnished.

Except that really WAS "American Eagle" who went off-roading. This is someone else carrying the "American Eagle" name and us getting the blame for it. I used this analogy before but it's like being blamed for crop dusting a room when it wasn't you. If you did it, fine. But it sucks when someone else does it and then suddenly everyone said you did it.

One might say the same thing for another carrier but, currently, there is not "United Express Airlines" or "Delta Connection Airlines." There is, however as of right now, a "American Eagle AIRLINES."

Perhaps it would be best to wait and hear the causes of this incident, study it and then learn from it. I suspect this would be much more useful than worrying about one's "supposed" reputation.

I seriously doubt any passenger has bought a ticket on AE because they perceived that they had a better reputation than another regional lift provider.

This just in:

Crappy outsourced airline has incident.

Pilots get all worked up making sure everyone knows that it wasn't their crappy outsourced airline.
