Republic or Envoy?

If you had to choose between Republic, Envoy, or Express Jet which poison would you choose?

Bravo3 06-14-2014 05:49 PM

None of them. Follow the growth. Go with the known. Good luck.

Salukipilot4590 06-14-2014 05:50 PM

Dunno lol.

Ultralight 06-14-2014 05:53 PM

Thats like standing at a vending machine filled with Coke products and Dr Pepper then trying to decide between Shasta Orange or Sams club cola!

Bzzt 06-14-2014 05:55 PM

You must have other options.

minimwage4 06-14-2014 06:04 PM

Show your dog or cat and ask them to point to which company you should work for.

nkm06 06-14-2014 06:42 PM

Go with Silver Airways man. U can't go wrong with that choice!

Answer D: WalMart Greeter. Same pay with more respect.

PerpetualFlyer 06-14-2014 06:54 PM

Can we please put a stop to these idiotic threads? Seriously, use the search function and your own common sense.

prior121 06-14-2014 07:27 PM

With the facts we know of growth I would only pick between these in June of 2014. In that order....

Compass
Mesa
Skywest

If you choose any one of those you're f&*$!d!!! Big time.Better do your homework. Psa or gojet would be a better option or maybe Mesa .

FaceBiter 06-14-2014 07:46 PM

PSA, GOjet or Mesa. Top tier.

Definitely not top tier , esp.Mesa and their subpar contract and wages. However , as it stands right now , they are a better option than the three the op originally asked about for alot of reasons. Republic or gojet dosent have cancelation pay , and with all those northeast bases and the winter months fast approaching, it could spell commuting to work and sitting without pay for some folks real soon. Now that sucks.

CFIGUY22 06-15-2014 07:50 AM

Republic or Envoy?

If say republic if you had to choose between the 3.

I think he was being sarcastic

This is a good point, especially if you end up on the Q400. Great aircraft when it works, but it is in general unreliable

I can't believe the union would allow the practice of no cancelation pay. It encourages pilots to fly broken aircraft and causes friction in the cockpit. One pilot may want to write up a discrepancy where the other guy will argue against it in fear of the flight canceling, then only being able to afford the cheap noodles!

For that reason alone I would forget Republic and GoJet.

Seriously? Why?

The work rules, schedules, pay, and support departments at Envoy are head and shoulders above anything RJET will ever be. The 145s and the 190 are going away, and management acts as if the pilot contract doesn't even exist.

...and this is a special paragraph to highlight the biggest detriment to working at RJET: There is NO OUTSTATION BASING at Envoy.

Plan on being an FO for a while at either place. There are a LOT of lifers at RJET, so trying to time an upgrade might be pretty hard...you might as well have a decent quality of life at Envoy as opposed to being treated like a baby treats a diaper at RJET.

The union has nothing to do with it. It's a contractual practice approved by the votes of pilots who were here before many of us. I suspect we'll be voting on another TA shortly which will definitely fix this oversight. It's a roll of the dice when it comes to picking a good airline. Good luck with your choice, OP.

Also second year pay at envoy is almost the same as top pay for RAH after 7years.

Next year we should get a pay raise (I expect around 3%), per diem increase to $1.90 and will continue for $0.05 every year). Also we have an amendment round in 2016, so I expect also more improvements.

Future is uncertain, but still a better contract than RAH.

CFIGUY22 06-15-2014 05:54 PM

Just my opinion, yea no cancel pay and envoy has the better contract, but you will end up making more than an envoy guy most likely with how much you fly and you won't be on reserve nearly as long. Pretty sure they are hiring mostly on the 170's so I wouldn't take the q if it was offered. Also envoy has hot reserve republic does not. And lol I believe envoy has the most lifers out of all regionals. Envoy is a very uncertain place to be right now.

Spoiler 06-15-2014 08:29 PM

300 lifers at Envoy total

SpeedyVagabond 06-16-2014 07:30 AM

Anywhere but RAH until a much improved contract is voted in. There's no excuse for getting caught out at a lesser airline in today's environment with the incredible amount of knowledge available today for one's benefit. Don't whine to me when you hit maxed out pay. Like Mama always says. . .

CFIGUY22 06-16-2014 09:59 AM

Bahaha lesser airline... Like some are good...

Wrong, look at the seniority number of those flowing right now. 450 lifers so far, and growing monthly.

Well, some that offer cancelation pay at least. That's huge.

CFIGUY22 06-16-2014 03:45 PM

No snickers I know this because of regional pay and qol across the board. Yea some have certain things that are better than others but I wouldn't consider them lesser or better. All depends on what you want personally And what you think is worth most in a contract.

To anyone looking into the airlines I'd recommend doing some research off of these forums, talk to people if possible working for a regional you are interested in that have been there for a while and people that have just started, they will most Likely have different points of view and things to say. and read the
contracts. Make an educated decision and understand that it is very hard to predict what will happen in the future. Make a logical decision and go with your gut.

Cruz5350 06-16-2014 05:29 PM

90% of guys if met in person and asked about their regional will say the same things... Ya it's not bad etc etc etc you're going to have a hard time finding someone who doesn't nothing but rail on the place they work at.

It may be a stretch but the forum posters probably work for the regionals in question

24601 06-16-2014 06:16 PM

as long as its not great lakes or psa, any where else is better than republic. know a few guys that came over from envoy thinking that it was the way to go. all of them have already left republic in under a year. a few of them wished they stayed at envoy. god bless

Wrong, to this point that is. If you look at the ALPA seniority list you will see that nearly everyone after seniority number 316 has elected to go and even a few senior ones to that have changed their minds to flow.

PSA is in the same category as great lakes now?

Must be really bad place to work over there.

Jaym 06-16-2014 09:01 PM

I've got interviews with both coming up and I don't really have a definite answer from this thread. I was leaning towards republic because in my mind they will do better in the future. All the 50 seaters at envoy won't be around much longer.

Is not about the plane, is about the money.
