Just to clarify, the original post seemed to imply United was giving RAH 175's. RAH is in fact buying them from Embraer themselves.

True thanks for clarifying deltajuliet.

Correct me if I'm wrong but overall this is a net loss across the board. Parking 70 145/140's, parking 10 190's and 30 Q400's. Loss of 110 aircraft and gain of 97 recently (47 for AA and 50 UA) = net loss of 12 aircraft but gain of seat/miles.

I'm new to the numbers game, but wouldn't the current upgrade times stay about the same? RAH is phasing out the 24 Qs and the ~70 E145s while adding the announced 50 E170s and 40 C series. Doesn't that just cancel themselves out? No real growth, but also no losses.

The 28 Q's (didn't take delivery of the full 32) replaced the 32 145's that were parked. There are still 5 190's flying for Caesar's charter. 47 175's were added for AA out of ORD and MIA and I believe only 32 received so far. These 50 new 175's are replacing the 28 Q's. So its a net gain of 60 a/c from 2012 to 2017 not including the options for the additional 47 for the AA contract. Rumors of replacement flying for the remaining 38 145's when their contract is up as well. There are talks of all United flying going to the YX cert to make S5 an all Delta cert.

New equipment (I'll call it replacement) that didn't require concessions... huh, so that's how it works.

Pretty much. A little net growth. Upgrades will depend mostly on attrition. Upgrade times will decrease because there was little hiring for a few years after 2008 I think.

They already have one of the worst contracts in the industry, and it is still worse than PSA and PDT so yes that is how it works.

At least they aren't tied into their crap contract for another 10 years.
