Default Ground collision in ORD

United flight to Las Vegas delayed after wing's clipped by

LAS VEGAS - A United Airlines flight that was supposed to be on its way to Las Vegas from Chicago was delayed due to an accident Thursday night.

According to the company, a piece of United Airlines flight 599's wing was clipped when a SkyWest aircraft, operating as United Express flight 5588, started pulling back from the gate and came in contact with United Airlines flight 599.
United Airlines flight 599 was sitting near the gate at O'Hare International Airport when it occurred.

No one was hurt, but the flight that was supposed to arrive in Las Vegas at 10:03 p.m. was delayed because United had to get all of the passengers off of that plane and onto a new airplane.

In a statement to WBBM-TV in Chicago, United Airlines apologized to its customers.

"We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and are providing them with compensation."

United flight 599 is expected to arrive in Las Vegas at 11:01 p.m.
