LATAM 787 Incident

https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/11/austr...hnk/index.html

New thread for this, according to the WSJ the pilots reported loss of flight instruments so it sounds like more than just CAT or somebody bumped the yoke. I didn't link the WSJ article, paywall.

Evidence that the pilot should have known, post-incident, to keep his trap shut.

It is the singular counsel most often granted, and yet it seems so hard for the masses to absorb. In an age of vomiting every finger twitch onto social media to ensure the world follows, the counsel is so simple: say nothing.

Doesn't matter of it's a shooting, car wreck, or an aircraft mishap; the same counsel applies. Now with a few drops of dye in the drinking fountain, the world's imagination runs wild.

I wonder if that pilot is at risk of a self-inflicted gunshot?

did the pilots have anything to do with the Clintons?

It will be interesting to see how the investigation finds out what agrees, or disagrees, with what the pilot told the passenger.

Now they're saying a flight attendant -- whilst serving the pilot a meal -- bumped a switch to the motorized seat, pushing the pilot into the controls.

787 has one of the power switches to move the seat fore and aft right behind the headset. You no longer have to bend over to reach the side mounted switch to move the seat. It's a very nice touch.

It's not the first time one of the powered seat switches has been inadvertantly activated.

How is it inadvertantly activated when it's a covered switch?

...maybe she wasn't really serving the pilot a meal? The 787 doesn't have a tray like an Airbus.

The CVR will reveal a lot, such as meal choices (chicken or fish) or the use of condiments.
