So TCAS worked, and a couple injuries to passengers who ignored the seatbelt sign. That about sum it up?

If the thread title was accurate it would say “Passengers ignore seat belt sign and sustain injury after pilots do their job to avoid a collision”

It doesn't allow that many characters in the subject line

OR, at FL310 just getting ready to start down, two of the pax required use of the facilities. It does happen.

yeah basically........
reminds me deplaning in SFO one time I was queried by a "I probably fly more than you" types.......who asked "Was that a near miss over Nevada?"

Likely was an opposite direction at cruise 1000 below but I couldn't recall exactly...so I just said...."If it were a near miss...Trust me you'd know it."

There's always the alternative: that the injuries might have been more extensive, had the crew not followed the RA.

Midair's tend to do that.

Would’ve referred him to Carlan’s “Near hit” bit. A near miss is called a collision. “Look (points at fireball in the sky)! They nearly missed!”

No, a "near miss" is only a collision if two objects collide.

Generally, a far miss is unremarkable and does not merit discussion.
