"I AM SHOCKED!" - Diane Sawyer.
Pilot Fatigue and 'Crash Pads' Threaten The Safety Of Airline Passengers - ABC News

Well, ABC NEWS Investigation opened this can of worms tonight, more detailed reports to be followed later on Nightline. Our fearless leader Captain Sully had some harsh words on this matter as well.
Whoever brought this tape over to ABC, hats off to ya!

(Who's crewroom is that anyway?)

Great, the mods moved this. ***. If this isn't a regional issue, I don't know what is. This thread will get views until it falls off the first page of the regional sub-forum and then lights out. Shame too... this stuff is important.

Mods, do you really think the average APC'er frequents the safety sub-forum of the pilot lounge sub-forum? Why do you have to go and kill good threads like this?

Crashpads are not a "regional issue" Pilots from Great Lakes to FedEx use crashpads....

Moonwolf 02-09-2011 07:15 PM

yeah but I don't imagine it being a major issue for a fedex pilot, I'm sure they have enough money to afford a hotel room for a night

Right. Pay is not a regional issue either - everyone gets paid. That is a slippery slope and you know it. Where do you draw the line? Just because it applies to everyone does not mean that it does not apply to the regionals.

It applies very very much to the regionals.

So how about it mods, let us have our discussion in a forum where the majority of viewers share a similar experience?

And yet you are a regional pilot, who no doubt found this thread through the regional forum.

On topic though, did anyone else see the Nightline piece? I thought it was well done, a lot of it was just reiteration of previous reporting, but I love it when the media reminds people that some pilots make less than 17k a year.

I just wonder out of not really knowing the answer, what 121 pilot makes less that 17k a year? besides the GLA and Gulfstream guys. Does colgan/ skywest fall into that catergory?
